Yeah, I agree with Wintermoot. Billy should of course be friendly, but not to the point of risking his standing with the company.

As a newbie, I say I vote for option 3, Find another way!!

Billy has always had a soft spot for Alain. Perhaps it's the fact he offered him tomato soup when they were at school together, perhaps it's the fact he owns shares in Campbells.

Either way, Billy wants to help him, but clearly he can't just give him inside information. No, He'll simply have to find another way[3]. Perhaps he can convince him to sell him his Campbells stocks. After all, he doesn't need them, does he?

Huh, I actually have an opinion this time. Namely, Billy should find another way to help. Buuuuut I've been consistent so far.

More seriously, perhaps this method would work. Billy wouldn't be sharing the knowledge he holds, just dropping off some shares that might help out. He certainly had no idea that they would help so much.

...On the other hand it looks like Billy is abusing his own knowledge, and it might lead to a slippery slope, and who knows if Alain is deserving of the money? Plus, he's a journalist! They cannot be trusted!

Oh well, option 3 wins with a 4 to 1 majority

Billy decides to look into Alain's problem more and as it turns out, a little bit of simple accounting work can help him get himself back together and on his feet. Billy helps Alain out more over the coming weeks until he is back to being well on top of his finances.


And eventually Billy Potato's trainee year as a Financial Analyst starts to come to an end, it's been a quick one, and it feels like it has been far longer than it was, it's been stressful but rewarding work in the world of finance.

As the end approaches Billy receives a phonecall that the engineering department at his old plant had been looking for more staff and he's been accepted as a full level 5 Engineer [1] if he still wants it!

Additionally even in the current stable economy Billy's staff review has come back so good that he is eligible to be promoted to either Compensation Supervisor level 5 or Accounting Supervisor level 5, both downstairs in the personnel and accounting departments respectively.

All this good news has left Billy in a great mood, and on his last day the rest of the finance team takes him out for a nice meal and drinks all round, afterwords as people are chatting and mingling, Cary Hoffman takes Billy aside for a private word.

Him and the rest of the regional board have been talking and looking at his record and they have decided to offer him the position of Assistant Product Manager [4] level 5.
While he would still be working at the regional HQ he would have to go on lots of visits out to the plants in the local area and he'd get to be involved directly in product design, as well as looking after some of the new trainee's. Turns out the current holder of this local position Harriet Nance hasn't been doing such a great job, and MMC is looking for a replacement.

Billy says that starting next week he will be a:

I would have to say option [4] is the way to go.  He would be giving back tot he trainees as he has been given to as a trainee.  This is the best option.

I have a Problem. It is a Problem that has significance. It is a Problem that directly impacts poor Billy Potato to a significant level. It may well change his fate, forever and ever, and with this Problem his future hangs in the balance.

Either zombies will ravage the land, or they will rejoin their families as living once more -- all thanks to how the Problem is solved.

Ahhhhhh! It's such a conundrum! A d4 correlates to the actual list better, but a d8 is more roll-able and thus seems more random! Ahhhhhh!

Billy can directly choose his underlings with this situation, which would allow him to select for loyalty to him, which could come in handy later and would allow him to have friends in mid-upper positions that he could use to solidify his bid/sabotage other bids to become CEO at some point.

Billy likes the idea of being an engineer [1]. That's why he picked the trainee post over the others and now he's being offered the post, he gets an opportunity to work with his friends at the job he worked so hard to get. clearly that's his choice, no?

I mean, sure, getting revenge on Harriet is great, but not as great as designing new ways of building soup-simulators, right?
Billy likes engineering. It makes him feel all warm inside. Sort of how Campbell's tomato, broccoli and onion soup makes you feel warm with minimal cost.

Billy is beyond brand-loyal. Campbell's basically owns him.
