You've probably heard some variation of this joke before, and for that I apologise.

You've heard of Gandhi, right? This Gandhi? Civil rights leader, given the title of Mahatma? Basically, he was a saint, or "high-souled", "venerable," and generally a spiritual guy. He got that title from his efforts around non-violently protesting to get Indian independence off of Britain. One method of protesting was hunger strikes. You know, he apparently didn’t eat much even outside of those. It'll explain why he was so thin and frail. Plus, having such an odd dietry probably left him with bad breath -- especially since I can't imagine toothbrushes were that widespread. Hm. He also went everywhere barefoot. But hey, that would have made the soles of his feet incredibly tough. But that is getting off topic. I was talking about his title as Mahatma, wasn't I? It's a good title, along with his unofficial one of "Father of the Nation." He's also known as a super-calloused fragile mystic, hexed with halitosis.
