Skyrim...
What I love about Skyrim is that it's such an immersive game...the area is nearly as vast as the things you can do in it, and it amazes me that I've spent dozens of hours in the game over the past few weeks just doing optional things and side quests...I didn't even get past getting the Horn of Jurgen Windcaller for the Main Quest until last night. I've become Harbinger of the Companions, Guildmaster of the Thieves Guild, and just yesterday won the Civil War story line for the Empire. I have two houses...Breezehome and Honeyside, and now I'm working on the College of Winterhold questline. Not to mention that I've done just about every side-quest that you can in Solitude...and that's not even counting mods and everything you can do with those.
This game has set the standard for what people want and expect from a story-based RPG, and although it's nearly four years old, no game has yet to surpass it, which is why I suppose it's still so popular.
