  • Finally, I finished Enemy Within! Now that I've saved the world that way, I'm going to go save it again as Michael Thorton. Free smiley face if you know what game I'm talking about....

What I love about Skyrim is that it's such an immersive game...the area is nearly as vast as the things you can do in it, and it amazes me that I've spent dozens of hours in the game over the past few weeks just doing optional things and side quests...I didn't even get past getting the Horn of Jurgen Windcaller for the Main Quest until last night. I've become Harbinger of the Companions, Guildmaster of the Thieves Guild, and just yesterday won the Civil War story line for the Empire. I have two houses...Breezehome and Honeyside, and now I'm working on the College of Winterhold questline. Not to mention that I've done just about every side-quest that you can in Solitude...and that's not even counting mods and everything you can do with those.

This game has set the standard for what people want and expect from a story-based RPG, and although it's nearly four years old, no game has yet to surpass it, which is why I suppose it's still so popular.

I agree for a die-hard role player like my self Skyrim is a dream. Though I must say, and this is just my personal opinion, I prefer Fallout: New Vegas to Skyrim. Now, if you dont mind, I'm going to take cover from the barrage of bullets heading my way.

  • Fallout 3 was a travesty, but I say that as a huge fan of the first two games...I never played New Vegas, but I understand that it was developed by some of the same people that did the first two games and they added some elements from those.

It seems that everywhere I go people say that they didn't like Fallout 3 as much as other games but thought that F:NV was not as good. Personally, F:NV was miles ahead of Fallout 3. I mean lord love a duck, Fallout 3 didn't even have iron sights. Take it from me (with a grain of salt), F:NV was much better than 3. If you don't mind some... technical issues.

No, it was a standalone. It had some issues but the feel, the story, the gameplay and just about everything else is better than Fallout 3 in my opinion.

Uhhh.... I would not suggest buying the PC version. When I said it had technical issues, I meant that on PC it basically doesn't work for very long before it crashes. I played it on the 360.

  • I'd recommend grabbing the Playstation version.  From experience, I've noticed that the 360 tends to stop patching/updating games fairly quickly/early, whereas I've seen the PS versions of the same game get bug patches/fixes 4 years later (Dragon Age II came out on March 8th of 2011, and they just released yet another new update roughly 3 weeks ago).

Alas, it is a great game when it works. Which is not often on PC, unfortunately.

  • I got New Vegas for PC on release, and it has almost always worked fine on my PC :P ... well besides the odd glitch of course, but nothing major there (and one time when I had far too many mods installed so it kept crashing :)) ) while a friend of mine had it on her PS3 and there were numerous times when it completely broke down... I guess its anecdotal, but on PC it has been patched a lot, so I imagine any difficulties that did exist have been ironed out somewhat ^-^

Also I really liked the first 2 fallouts, they have a certain charm that I don't really find quite as much in the newer ones, they definatly aren't for everyone. But for me the world seems so much more tenuous, in the newer games I felt very powerful, and like the centre of attention, and while you are still the protagonist in the older games, I personally found them to be much more interesting in how superfluous the players role seems. It might just be me though, as I find the older games much harder as well :D

Well, the problem I'm finding with older games like that is that I've been spoiled by modern games. I think I would have liked the first fallouts if I had played them first but now I dont know, you know?
