To be honest I prefer things to be loosely worked. I don't want there to be an official map. I prefer loose canon's that people can join and leave at will, that people can start up a fun little RP if they want to for a nation. I am against it because of the fact that if you want a map to work with the Oh the Places you'll go thread then why not make one? I don't think we need an official one. To be honest. I'd rather let there  be a few standard maps, but nothing 100% official.

Weissreich's map is wonderful and definitely what I had in mind when it came to lore/map, though I haven't made that decision yet.

However, maps like ORCAs are better for regional nation-based RPs and what people like Gov had in mind I believe. There's room for more than one map...not sure if/when one will become official though.

There has to be a map for the nation RP.

Can my nation be moved on the map by the way?

I've made no pretences about my map being specifically for the setting I'm working on, so if people decide this should be the regional one - which makes more sense - I'm all for it!

Well, each map has its own fans, but there can really only ne one official.

Anyway : I think it depends on the RP to which map is to be used.

Yes, each RP can choose their own map.

However, for the purposes of history and lore, Weissreich's map will probably eventually become 'official'.

The map I threw together was simply meant to be an example. I love what Weiss has done and I really see no reason that I couldn’t work in conjunction with that to create it in an easily updateable format like the one I used. With a few tweaks to allow for national homelands, it would work beautifully.

Of course a thread would have to be made to discuss what all currently active nations would desire as far as their own lands were concerned. But that is where the fun of it lies. If the community wishes me to do so I will begin the process of converting Weiss’s map to Paint.

Please keep in mind that this is simply a quick example. Layout and random placenames for landmasses and bodies of water are accompanied by random nations chosen from the forums.

To create the actual map I would need info from current, active players such as general nation shape and preferences such as landlocked, coastal, or island as well as general location on the map. I prefer to leave topography open for each nation to add swamps, mountains, and such as they desire their nation to be. This keeps the basic map easy to update and edit as nations are added and removed. Let me know what you think.

I will also create national maps as detailed as wanted upon request.

The more maps the merrier! I think at least some form of a regional map would be great, simply because it would provide a tangible - or rather, visible - way to really see the region.
