    Weissreich's Campaign HQ

Hello one, hello all! I'm greatly honoured to accept Denth Kasten's nomination for candidacy, and I hope to prove his trust in me well-placed once again.

I feel that the region has come along leaps and bounds during the 3rd term, but I'm concerned that activity is still lacking. As with my previous platform, I hope to incite activity both through creating the opportunity for it and by passing legislation that will hopefully encourage newer members to stay with the region and enjoy what we have to offer.

Primarily, my means to this end has been the Chronicles forum, where I'm sure many of you have seen my postings in the Oh, The Places You'll Go In Wintreath and the Establishment of Setting threads. Although an admittedly limited aspect of the region, I feel that the culture and RP elements of any region are important to its success - a vibrant community of active members surely follows from a community setting that is conducive to activity!

However, I also feel it important to note that the Underhusen has suffered from a lack of activity. Whilst we've taken measures to counter this by increasing the number of seats for the 4th term, hopefully encouraging newer members to stand for election, it's vital that the next sitting pass laws that both aid the community and serve viable purposes. This might sound like a self-evident statement, but many of the amendments and laws passed this terms have been focused around specific issues such as the freedom of information and the honourary citizenship acts.

In regards to myself, I work for a think-tank in London that advises the British government on policy, although they rarely listen to us because they're big-headed and think they know best (which they don't). I believe this gives me a unique perspective on the legislative process and I hope that it will allow me to bring something a little special to the table which will make Wintreath all the more attractive to both prospective members and old-timers! I'm an adherent of the principle of hegelian dialecticalism: the merging of two ideas to form one better suited to the needs of the moment, and hopefully this will prove useful in debates.

Thank you for your consideration! Questions and comments are welcome, as always!

    Key policies
    • Pushing for increased cultural activity!
    • Striving to boost the activity of the region!
    • Passage of a revised FoI Act!

  • Good luck brother!

I certainly agree that ensuring activity continues to increase on the forum is paramount. I hope to be a part of the work you are doing on the RP's, it looks a good opportunity.

Heh, Denth isn't honorable, don't feel too rewarded.

As a member of the 3rd UH. We didn't do much, and activity still is lacking, I agree there. However, how do you hope to increase activity? More bills? There's been a bill that has been sitting there for the better part of a month and only now reached vote.

I agree with you here. We've seen how active the RMB gets and I think that if we lead people through our culture we can probably get more people staying as members.

    I agree with this point.

Good to know that we have some sensible people running for UH.

How do you plan to increase activity?
How do will you revise the FoI Act if the VI Amendment passes?
Can we get a few teasers so as to know what heading you're taking and if I (and Wintreath in general) agree with it?

3rd term point - I said during, not because of :) I'm hoping that by providing ample opportunity for RP development and general culture-related content, we'll encourage members to both stick around and join in the first place. I can't say much for my activity in this term, as my work has and will continue to be my main priority (bills u kno), but I'm willing and able to dedicate time to Wintreath's continued success.

As for the bills, you'll have to wait and see ;) I kid, I kid.
    - Once I've cemented a few ideas in my own head and discussed them with others, I'm hoping to create a defined position/role for the Houses: at the moment they're purely decorative.
    - As far as I can tell, the main reason for the rejection of the Act first and second time round was its wording. Whilst I personally feel the Overhusen likes to be... finiticky... I can see their point and am hoping to both streamline and improve upon the original two versions.
    - I'm quite happy with where Wintreath is at the moment. My main concerns are the lack of RP/culture/lore involvement - which I'm looking to take steps to correct - and the fact that a lot of our membership doesn't actually make it to this forum and stays on the RMB. I'm well aware of the fact that most people simply cannot be arsed with off-site forums, but I'm hoping to present a few ideas on how to improve these figures.

    Thank you one and all.

  • So do I :)

I'd just like to note that after a discussion with Mootles I'm dropping support for the FoI. He's far more valuable to us than any Act could be, so hopefully you'll all understand my decision.

  • The Underhusen is there to create laws that are not covered by any of the ministries, like justice. I think the greatest challenge imposing itself on Wintreath right now is the lack of our legal code. What do you plan on doing about that?

  • There's a proposed legal code in the UH at the moment, and it's served as a good base for inspiration. I've some ideas about expanding it and making it very much Wintreath's own code of laws, so hopefully that'll be one of the first Acts of the new term.

  • 1. What do you feel is the most important legislative goal to be accomplished during the coming term?

    2. What do you feel should be the nature of the relationship between the executive and legislative branches of government? Do you believe the current relationship between the two is appropriately balanced or out of balance, and why?

    3. Name one thing that's wrong with one of our laws (including the Fundamental Laws) and how you would fix it.

    4. Do you see treaties as a means to develop a new relationship with a region, a means to make official an already solid relationship, some combination of these, or something else entirely? Please be as detailed as possible.

    5. Do you believe that members of the Riksråd should be part of the Underhusen? Why or why not?

  • 1: The drafting of a Code of Criminal Laws Act.

2: I'm happy with it the way it is. We've no evidence, nor do I expect there to be evidence, to suggest an abuse of the positions of the executive, and thus I've no problem with the way Mootles and his Riksåd are running things :)

3: The Judicial Offices Act states we're to have passed a Code of Criminal Laws Act by the end of the next term. We haven't, therefore that needs to be altered.

4: Foreign Affairs in NS is of little interest to me at the moment, as I'm almost totally focused on the internals of our own region. Perhaps in the future I'll be able to devote more time to that matter, but until then I'd rather leave that to the JoFA/ToFA.

5: As much as I'd love to say no (because of separation of powers et cetera) at the moment we just don't have the activity to deny them that right.
