  • Another question: I see weapon and shield upgrades say something about power, which I assume means they require a certain amount to work. Is this a feature that hasn't been implemented yet, or is there a way to tell how much power my ship has?
Power here refers to the power of the weapon or shield, not the power used by the weapon or shield. There is not and won't be a power system in the game, the limits on weapons/shields are simply in the number of slots your ship has and the amount of money you have to spend.

Also, if you compare the power of the weapons you will see that it's often best to have multiple cheaper guns than a single more expensive gun.

  • @Wuufu: The game is off to a great start! I started playing around as a passenger liner, and was able to fly around the Sea a few times and make 20k in the process. When I get a chance I'm going to explore the pirate and trader routes, but I think this is a great foundation to build things on. :D

I do have just a few ideas:

Combine Warp/Map Screens (and add highlighting): I think it would make sense to combine these into one screen. At times it was a little frustrating having to switch between them, such as when I needed to get portal destinations on the warp screen, and then search for them on the map screen. Even better, I think it'd be neat to have overlays...for example, one that highlights the portal destinations you can go to from your current system or one that highlights systems passengers you can take in your current system want to go to. That would make it a lot easier and take fewer clicks to plan routes.

Cargo Price on System Tab: It'd be neat if you could see the sell price of cargo you're carrying on the right-hand tab that displays system information, so you didn't have to go to the trader screen and hit the sell tab in every system. Perhaps it could include a link to that tab in case you want to sell your goods right there.

  • @Wintermoot: thanks for these suggestions! This is great!

Combine Warp/Map Screens (and add highlighting): I think that's a great idea honestly. I think I originally thought splitting them out would allow for a closer control of functionality, but in retrospect I think it does the opposite. Merging them together and providing a + or - button to zoom in and out would work better.

As for the highlighting, we already have that kind of thing on the Find dropdown. For Portal destinations, you can select Hi-Tech worlds, for example. However, I think having these as separate "highlights" in the dropdown, and adding in passenger destinations, are excellent ideas.

Cargo Price on System Tab: For cargo pricing, you can currently view the price you bought it at in the cargo dropdown from the status bar at the top. I originally didn't think to add cargo sell prices on the system tab, since prices do change every time you jump (the economy is not sitting still just for you after all), however I do see instances where this might be useful so I'll likely add it next to the price, as a P/L column to your currently selected destination. Just on longer trips the price may not be the same as when you set off.

  • @Wuufu: I have to admit, I didn't notice the cargo dropdown, even though I've been using the passenger dropdown beside of it extensively. xD Mostly I was hoping to see the sell price at the system your currently at so you don't have to go to Trader -> Sell everytime you warp. What you're talking about sounds a lot better though. :)

Also have to admit that I missed the dropdown besides using the Search functionality, but yeah, passenger destinations would be great xD

  • Happy holidays to you as well!

Congrats on having a storefront <even if it's name your own price>! Having an online home for the game and a new update is very exciting news! Of course, you already know how far I think this game can go...definitely excited to try out the new version. :D
