  • Hi y’all, just got on. Well 1. I think I am not our wolf and me personally think Michi lunging at me for things I’ve explained is somewhat suspicious and the fact Wiral just blindly agreed with it makes me believe they’re actually town. Now to be fair, I haven’t been as active as I wanted to be, but I still think my reasons were reasonable (that’s a weird sentence) but yeah.

  • Yeah, this is like the re-runs now.  Not participate a lot except twice purely out of defense, which is really classic wolf move.  I'm was pretty sure Wiral was a townie, but now I feel like that's absolutely set since this definitely feels like wolfie TGN.  Great game guys.

Can’t be out of defense if you never had any

Right.  Me calling you out for your inactivity and you defending your sudden activeness despite being quiet all day is definitely totally not defending anything.

You're pretty much running on fumes here TGN.

The final day was mostly silent after the remaining guests decided who the werewolf had to be...two thought it was @TGN, one thought it was @Michi. After that there just didn't seem to be much to say, so they waited until the evening. Then they led TGN down to the basement and ended his reign of terror.

Except that it wasn't, because turns out TGN was simply a fan/villager. @Wiral wasn't long for this world either...he was done away with before he could even recover from the shock of the truth.

Which leaves Michi, also known as your hostess Jessica Fletcher, who is also the werewolf. For years, Jessica has used her cover as a brilliant sleuth, witty murder mystery writer, and kindly older lady to frame others for her own carnage. And to her amusement, nobody ever caught on despite the fact that practically every week for years somebody has died around her. And now Jessica has triumphed in the ultimate test of her abilities, outlasting everybody she invited without ever being discovered. This is going to make a great book, which is why I guess it's called...

  • To everyone who played, thanks for playing! I really enjoyed putting together this game, and I'm sure I'll host other Werewolf games in the future. :D

If you don't mind, I'd appreciate if everyone would fill out this short survey to help me improve the game. Yes, it's the same one as Spyfall, except for Werewolf. :P

    2) What was one thing you hated about this game? The inactivity, and perhaps lack of "guidelines" as how to start out a game.

    3) On a scale of 1 (don't like at all) to 10 (love), how much do you like Werewolf in general? 8, some flaws but pretty damned good.

    4) What Wintreath game are you most excited about playing in the future? Any at all!

    5) Do you have any other feedback, ideas, or suggestions concerning Spyfall (or other games)? More game ideas that can before based is an idea.

    1) A list of all possible roles and powers.
    2) A rough schedule of what to expect when, such as night and day lenghts.
    3) Principles to adhere to as to what to expect when prying and playing.
    4) Maybe a basic gist of "how tos" and "what not dos"
    5) Lastly, cookies for all!

As far as how to guides and whatnot, we actually do have that covered.  If you check out the main page of The Lost Village forum, we have a Tips and Tricks thread, unofficial rules thread, and beginners guide all pinned for convenience.  ^-^

As far as the schedule thing goes, the gist is usually 48 hour days (with games normally doing a 72 hour day 1 phase), 24 hour nights, and you'll always know what phase we're in if you check out the top of the thread where it says Round (insert number) followed by Day/Night.  The phase lengths are normally mentioned in the rules, or the host will mention the phase length with each day/night transition like Moot did for this game.  Sometimes games will play around with different phase lengths, but that's the standard.

Typical vanilla setup will consist of Werewolves, guards, a seer, and villagers...usually dependent on the player count.  We can definitely get back to putting the list out for future vanilla games though...but usually unless it's otherwise specified that'll be the typical setup: 1 seer, 2 protectors, and 1-3 wolves depending on player amount.

  • We do have guides and tips, but I noticed that they're spread out over 5 topics for players and 2 topics for hosts, some of which go back to 2014. It probably wouldn't hurt to condense it into two guides: one for players and one for hosts.

In the past, listing the roles in each game has been at the discretion of the host, and I chose not to. Even though this was a more vanilla game, I thought it would be fun for players to figure them out on their own since they were mostly basic roles. Besides the twist of Jessica Fletcher being a werewolf herself, I gave each Werewolf a minor ability as well:

    • Leesbra had a bartender ability, where once in the game he could get a player drunk. Once applied, that player wouldn't have been able to post, vote (or change their vote) or use any night abilities for the remainder of the round while they slept it off. Leesbra never used the ability before they were voted off.
    • Michi had a passive ability to resist investigations, which I can say definitely fouled up Aragonn. Had his scan of Michi on Night 2 been successful, I think the game would have played out very differently. And I think it was for the good, as Aragonn also scanned and discovered Leesbra on Night 1...it meant the game wasn't just the seer discovering all the wolves and announcing them to the players. :P

I legitimately forgot that the first round is usually 72 hours, but given how the rest of the game played out I don't think adding another day would have added anything to the game. I'm also taking note to include a mention of how ties are resolved in future games...a big part of this game was making it open to new players, and it bothers me that I didn't look at the OP from the perspective of a new player who won't know how games usually go in Wintreath.

Otherwise, I was happy with the design of the game...I think it turned out balanced for 8 players, and there weren't any game-altering fuckups on my part. Truth be told, I enjoyed hosting the game more than I usually enjoy playing it, so I'm sure I'll be hosting another game sometime in the future. ^-^
