We do have guides and tips, but I noticed that they're spread out over 5 topics for players and 2 topics for hosts, some of which go back to 2014. It probably wouldn't hurt to condense it into two guides: one for players and one for hosts.
In the past, listing the roles in each game has been at the discretion of the host, and I chose not to. Even though this was a more vanilla game, I thought it would be fun for players to figure them out on their own since they were mostly basic roles. Besides the twist of Jessica Fletcher being a werewolf herself, I gave each Werewolf a minor ability as well:
- Leesbra had a bartender ability, where once in the game he could get a player drunk. Once applied, that player wouldn't have been able to post, vote (or change their vote) or use any night abilities for the remainder of the round while they slept it off. Leesbra never used the ability before they were voted off.
- Michi had a passive ability to resist investigations, which I can say definitely fouled up Aragonn. Had his scan of Michi on Night 2 been successful, I think the game would have played out very differently. And I think it was for the good, as Aragonn also scanned and discovered Leesbra on Night 1...it meant the game wasn't just the seer discovering all the wolves and announcing them to the players.
I legitimately forgot that the first round is usually 72 hours, but given how the rest of the game played out I don't think adding another day would have added anything to the game. I'm also taking note to include a mention of how ties are resolved in future games...a big part of this game was making it open to new players, and it bothers me that I didn't look at the OP from the perspective of a new player who won't know how games usually go in Wintreath.
Otherwise, I was happy with the design of the game...I think it turned out balanced for 8 players, and there weren't any game-altering fuckups on my part. Truth be told, I enjoyed hosting the game more than I usually enjoy playing it, so I'm sure I'll be hosting another game sometime in the future.
