  • The screen cuts to a title card for "The Bestest Friend." The camera zooms in on one individual in front of 16 others, as well as another more professionally dressed man.  A table stands behind the individual and professionally dressed man, and 15 elegant looking blue and purple tulips lay there.

Host: Alright Marin, it's time to choose who will get their tulips, and who should leave the mansion.

    Marin sighs, collecting themselves.

    Marin: Arek, please step forward.

    Arek does so.

Marin: Arek, I had a wonderful time with you.  Your penchant for poetry, though not all of it yours, is lovely to say the least.  Though I do have to wonder about some of the passages, since some of it seemed pretty odd.  And the fact that you started off our time with unoriginal stuff that you claimed was yours was definitely a bit offputting...but I'm interested to see how far our friendship will go.  Will you accept this tulip of friendship?

Arek nods and takes the tulip gratefully, heading out of the room.

    Marin: Aesil, please step forward.

    Aesil does so.

Marin: Aesil, things were a bit touch and go for a bit.  We seemed to have some communication problems, and I know that must have been hard.  But I'm willing to try to make our friendship work, because I believe in you.  And I think our time spent at the arcade was a lot of fun, to say the least.  Will you accept this tulip of friendship?

Aesil nods and takes the tulip gratefully, heading out of the room.

    Marin: Eastwick, please step forward.

    Eastwick does so

Marin: Eastwick, I've literally never met anyone with your name, and it fascinates me.  However, that's really all I know about you aside from some bits and pieces I've heard from the other contestants.  When we were out playing mini golf, we barely talked to each other, and I don't know how to feel about that in all honesty.  However, I'm willing to accept that you may be a bit shy, and I'm hoping that we can overcome that since I think there's potential for us to be great friends.  Will you accept this tulip of friendship?

Eastwick nods and takes the tulip gratefully, heading out of the room.

    Marin: Thomas, please step forward.

Thomas, confused at first, does so.

Marin: Thomas, you seem very lost to be here, and that's understandable given that you're so young.  When you first appeared on this show, I'll admit that I was worried that you had stepped into the wrong game since you seemed like you felt so out of place.  When we were at the park throwing rocks at old folks, you for some reason started throwing them at yourself, and I admittedly was concerned.  But despite your awkwardness that I just can't get a read on, I'm intrigued and want to see what happens next.  Will you accept this tulip of friendship?

Thomas nods and takes the tulip, at first attempting to eat it before he heads out of the room.

    Marin: Gerwin, please step forward.

    Gerwin does so.

Marin: Gerwin, you seem like a nice guy, but like Thomas it's just hard to get a read on you.  You seem like you want to be friends, yet you just kind of check out at the most random moments.  When we were spraypainting the town, you just kind of stood there for a moment, and I was admittedly worried for you until there was that sudden snap back to reality, and you went back to spraypainting like nothing happened.  While I'm worried for you, I'd like to offer you this tulip of friendship and see where our friendship goes.  Do you accept?

Gerwin nods and takes the tulip gratefully, remaining stationary for moments as he suddenly snaps back into reality and leaves the room.

    Marin: Xavier, please step forward.

    Xavier does so.

Marin: Xavier, I had a great time laughing at stupid movies with you while throwing popcorn at people in the theaters before we were kicked out.  While you're a bit more upfront than I'm normally used to, I genuinely appreciate the honesty for the most part, even if it's in situations where you seem somewhat confused.  I feel like there's a part of me that may be skeptical, but I'm willing to put that aside for now and see where things go.  Do you accept this tulip of friendship?

Xavier nods and takes the tulip gratefully, leaving the room.

    Marin: Marzia, please step forward.

    Marzia does so.

Marin: Marzia I had such a blast playing laser tag throughout the city while the cops were chasing us.  It was such a thrilling experience, and it's definitely a night I'll never forget.  The way you talk sometimes confuses me a bit, but I'm willing to work with that since I think there's potential for us to be great friends.  Do you accept this tulip of friendship?

Marzia nods and takes the tulip gratefully, leaving the room.

    Marin: Anukin, please step forward.

    Anukin does so.

Marin: I won't lie, when I heard your name for the first time, my mind immediately went to Star Wars...and the fact that you seemed very into Sci-Fi to where we held up a bank wearing costumes from, amusingly enough, Star Trek pretty much didn't help things either.  Like Aesil there seemed to be some genuine confusion between us, but I'm willing to believe right now that I was simply just a misunderstanding of sorts.  Will you accept this tulip of friendship?

Anukin nods and takes the tulip gratefully, giving the "live long and prosper" sign before leaving the room.

    Marin: Dominic, please step forward.

    Dominic does so.

Marin: Dominic, you're an interesting one to say the least.  You've got an interesting way of speaking, and at times I just feel like you and I are just connected in a way that I'm not with any of the others here.  It's really hard to explain, but when we were out dressed in full royal costume yelling at everyone for being peasants and throwing fruits at people, I just felt this really strong bond of sorts...though admittedly I kind of got the vibe that it was a one way feeling.  Nonetheless, I think there's great potential that we could be bestest friends.  Do you accept this tulip of friendship?

Dominic nods and takes the tulip gratefully, leaving the room.

    Marin: Vrorick, please step forward.

    Vrorick does so.

Marin: Vrorick, I really don't know what you say.  You only seem to open up with pictures to communicate, and while it's unique, I'm just not sure how to feel about it.  But I will honestly never forget skydiving into the white house yard before we were dragged off and questioned by the Secret Service.  While I admit I'm a little unsure of how to take you on your way of communicating, I'm curious to see how things go.  Will you accept this tulip of friendship?

Vrorick nods and takes the tulip gratefully before flying out of the room with a hoot.

    Marin: Wistin, please step forward.

    Wisten does so.

Marin: Wistin, I really haven't gotten to know you at all, so I'm really unsure of how to feel.  Like Gerwin, I felt you just checked out a lot during our time together, only for you it was literally the fact that you would disappear for long periods of time.  I would have had a lot of fun having a paintball tournament against the Army, but you disappeared at one point and I was having to fight them off myself.  I won, but I had just wondered where my partner in crime went as I was being hauled off to military jail for interrupting a military operation.  That being said though, I'm willing to give you the benefit of the doubt and see how things go.  Do you accept this tulip of friendship?

Wistin nods and takes the tulip gratefully, leaving the room.

    Marin: Melania, please step forward.

    Melania does so.

Marin: Melania, I had so much fun dropping bricks from the tallest building in the city with you on the criminals that were chasing us.  I think on occasion you can have some great insight, and I'm curious to see where things go.  Do you accept this tulip of friendship?

Melania nods and takes the tulip gratefully, leaving the room.

    Marin: Cerian, please step forward.

    Cerian does so

Marin: Cerian, you seem like a quirky and unique person, and I always respect that.  I was very intrigued by your collection of paintings that you did on the walls of the living rooms of people's houses that you broke into.  I thought the style and subject matter of horror mixed with bad puns was quite fascinating, to say the least.  Do you accept this tulip of friendship?

Cerian nods and takes the tulip gratefully, leaving the room.

Marin: Two tulips left, and 3 potential best friends left.  Lau Tsing, Rugenheim, Dolbert, please step forward.

    The three step foward.

Marin: Lau Tsing, I had a lot of fun freeing the animals of the zoo and bringing them into battle with the wild animals in the woods while we had spectators watching and recording on their phones.  However, I was offput by this idea that you wanted to be some kind of Noah, screaming about rain and why people should get on your Ark.  It was confusing to say the least since we were at a funeral during this outburst and and someone just happened to accidentally spill their bottle of water.

    Marin turns to Rugenheim.

Marin: Rugenheim, I had a lot of fun playing box wars with you and creating a colossal box pyramid with all sorts of boxy passages.  However, your way of speaking was very confusing to me since you only seemed to speak in poems.  But not just any poems, but ones that were a little heavy handed on the introspection to where at many points I felt like you were putting on an act.  I'm just honestly unsure of how to feel about that.

    Marin turns to Dolbert

Marin: And Dolbert, I had a great time flying a plane across the town and dropping excessive amounts of glitter on everyone.  However, when a bird went by you suddenly went off on it to an almost violent degree and claimed it was conspiring against you.  I've also noticed you've had an on/off feud with Lau Tsing that I don't quite understand, especially since it's seemed to be a bit more one sided with you against him...though you've currently subsided for now.  Though it does make me worry about whether I'd potentially end up setting you off at some point.

Marin looks to each of them.

Marin: All of you have potential, and all of you have your flaws that are hard to ignore, so I have to choose only two of you to continue.

Marin thinks hard, the music grows suspenseful.

    Marin: Lau Tsing.

Lau Tsing sighs with relief and steps forward soley.

Marin: do you accept this tulip of friendship?

Lau Tsing nods and takes the tulip gratefully, leaving the room.

    Marin: Rugenheim.

Rugenheim makes sounds of delight and hovers forward slightly.

Marin: do you accept this tulip of friendship?

Rugenheim nods and takes the tulip gratefully, clutching it in their mouth as they fly out of the room.

Host: I'm sorry Dolbert, but you'll be leaving the mansion.

Dolbert, disappointed, thanks the two for the opportunity and opens the door, leaving the mansion.  The camera fades to black, and cuts to commercial.

  • The camera cuts in on the Shlock News desk as Tucker Talker is completely drunk at this point.

Tucker: Alright, what stupid git replaced my real report?  Oh wait, it was probably me, haha.  Anyways, apparently there's reports that the stupid morons running The Bestest Friend screwed up, and now the Network Executives are pissed because they didn't follow the rules or whatever.  Well I say who cares what the %$^& they think, right?  Apparently they liked Dolbert and were furious to see him kicked off the show, and they decided to reshoot that episode with him being allowed to stay on.  They had their sites apparently on Xavier, claiming he's too %$^&ing boring and some other pointless stuff, so they ran a second taping of the show with this change.  So sucks to be you Xavier fans and Dolby haters!

Tucker passes out as the camera cuts out.

  • At this rate I'm going to be forced to scum-hunt. Speaking of, who's the scum team, Ex?
Update to this but Michi just skyrocketed in my scumreads with that nonsensical vote into me due to me calling out on these fake restrictions and saying one of them is likely scum. It's harmful for the game state because people have a harder time reading what other players are trying to say specially non native english speakers like me, makes a ton of fluff that adds nothing to the game, helps scum hide, and is personally annoying.
If he really has reads (even if not nearly as elaborated as it should), why is he going after people that are active and trying to solve rather than standing his feet on his scumreads? It's just comes off as a cheap way of silencing whoever is skeptical of their dumb fun.

    ENE is still a scumlean.
I don't think Vro and Dolby ever share a mafia team, same for ENE/Laurentus and Dolby.
Arenado fell off to a scumread after me going back to reread his stuff.

Marzipan's activity drop is a red flag that is annoying me. Aersol and Silver I have my personal gut feeling iffiness.

I'd still prioritize any lurkers of my scumreads right now though. The fact mafia went for Bob shows they don't care about the game enjoyment over winning, so if we just go lynching players that are even mildly active we'll get to a stale state where we just lose for a few active scum controlling the vote.

Michi having town reads is great but I don’t know who Dominic is supposed to be

  • Yeah Exlight I’ll be blunt

I think that Lau can be mafia

I also think that he can just be a 3P lying for ??? Reasons

I think that if he is lying that that kill is the mafia kill, and I see no obvious kills that were stopped.

I want an explanation on why the mafia kill was supposedly stopped, why Bob was SK killed, and why the supposed SK kill was janitored
I don't know, all I know is that couldn't have been tbe mafia. I have literally no experience with the janitor role. I don't even see why Bob's alignment or role couldn't have made him just appear as redacted.

  • hmm maybe I should reiso vro

I don't see why Laurentus would attract this much attention to himself unless he's a sort of godfather though, the whole no lynch thing and the now claiming it wasn't the mafia kill is basically begging to get their alignment verified somehow
Oh, god, I am never playing that way as godfather again. See: BatWolf for the reason.

  • extreme suggestion but in a situational scenario having the players with restrictions to break them (most are lurking or inactive anyway so if they get punished over doing so it won't make MUCH difference) so we know which ones are faking it and which ones are telling the truth could be useful
of course this dances around the border of game ethics so we'd have to make sure the host is fine with this sort of strategy because depending on what terms we're working here it could be problematic

although it's fairly obvious a decent chunk of players is obviously lying about it already

Maybe but also I don’t think that self-janitizing roles exist in general

Lau is really increasing his 3P “no yeet waster” equity wrt him with advocating for exactly three no yeets (the exact maximum provided by the game)

yea their own role might've caused them to get janitored
which kinda sucks if that's the case because I was considering using a custom role like that for my mafia game grumble grumble

scum theater barely happens unless both players are on the spotlight being considered for a lynch

it makes no sense to attract attention to you both when none of you are at risk of dying immediately for our knowledge
even if ends up causing one of you to die at night and give semi-townpants to the other, it's much worse to have a townlean from the players at the cost of a dead scumbud so yea I'm not going to interpret it like this unless something hints at this direction like weird vote interactions
