As originally drafted here, the Right to Abstain Amendment Act would explicitly encode the right to cast abstain votes in any legal election or vote, and specifies that such votes would not count for or against the matter at vote. It is intended to replace the Definition of Abstention Act, whose authority beyond Overhusen and Underhusen votes was always legally murky at best even under the old system.

By law, 8 Citizens must sign this petition by Wednesday, March 24th at 10:09AM EDT in order for it to go to referendum at the beginning of April. I would appreciate your signature.

Title
1) This Act shall be cited as the Right to Abstain Amendment Act.

Amendment
2) Article III Section 8 shall be added to the Fundamental Laws with the following text:

8. Citizens shall have the right to vote "Abstain" in any referendum, election, or vote created under the authority of this document or subordinate documents. Abstain votes shall be recorded but not counted for or against the matter at vote, including votes that require supermajority approval to pass.

It actually doesn't need to be signed by 8 people since it was proposed by the Monarch (as per section V.3 of the Fundamental Laws), it just needs to be ratified at referendum. But I'll sign it anyway lol

I overlooked that when I sent this to petition, but I don't mind having it petitioned just like anyone else either.

In any case, with 9 signatures (and counting), this will be put up for referendum on April 1st.
