Wintreath Thane Elections
Nominate and Stand for Election!

In this topic you may stand or nominate someone else to stand for election for one of these thane positions in the Ministries of Culture, Foreign Affairs, and Regional Affairs! Only Citizens can be nominated for or stand for elections. Once you have stood for election, you must create a campaign topic before Monday, June 1st that at a minimum provides the following information:

1) Why are you running for this position?
2) What do you aim to accomplish as thane? As part of this, you must include at least one thing that you promise to do beyond the minimum listed duties of the position during your term. It should be measurable, so that it's black and white whether you fulfilled this mandate at the end of the term if you are elected.
2a) If you are an incumbent running for re-election, did you fulfill your mandate from the September election? If not, why didn't you?
3) What qualifications or experience do you have in the area that you are running in?
4) How do you plan to have the time to fulfill the duties of the position until the next election in March?
5) Are you currently a part of any other NationStates regional or organizational government? If so, please include those regions and positions.

Once your campaign is posted, the Jarl over the position will vet and either approve or reject your candidacy based on your activity and contributions/history in the area that you are running in, and I reserve the right to reject your candidacy based on your fit within the current Cabinet or regional security concerns. The list of positions open are below:

Ministry of Culture, led by Ruguo

Thane of Roleplay (voted on by all Citizens):

• Represent the roleplay community in the Riksrad and regularly take part in Cabinet meetings and discussions;
• Manage and moderate the forums in the Roleplayers' Gathering;
• Encourage roleplay and facilitate its growth in the region;
• Serve as the Patriarch of the RP Guild;
• Work with the Council to manage the RP Guild and its roleplays by helping members start up and host roleplays, helping find a new host for a roleplay if the host goes inactive, and helping decide whether to reboot or archive inactive roleplays;
• Welcome new citizens who may interested in roleplay, introduce them to the RP Guild and the Roleplayers' Gathering, accept new members into the RP Guild, and help out beginners with roleplaying;
• Other duties determined by the RP Guild.

Thane of Werewolf (voted on by all Citizens):

• Represent the Werewolf community in the Riksrad and regularly take part in Cabinet meetings and discussions;
• Manage and moderate the "Werewolf/Mafia" board;
• Lead the Werewolf Taskforce (a small group to help with its duties) and appoint its members;
• Start and host games or help others to start and host games of Werewolf;
• Help out beginners and answer any questions they may have;
• Keep the stickied threads updated;
• Other duties determined by the Werewolf Taskforce;
• Must ensure at least one game of Werewolf is started during its term.

Thane of Gaming (voted on by all Citizens):

• Represent the gaming community in the Riksrad and regularly take part in Cabinet meetings and discussions;
• Manage and moderate the "Gaming Lounge" forum;
• Facilitate the growth of the gaming community in the region;
• Promote playing non-forum multiplayer games together as a region (such as Minecraft, Civilization, Town of Salem, Paradox games, and MMOs);
• Welcome new citizens who may be interested in gaming and help them to join regional games;
• Must set up at least one regional game night per month during its term.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs, led by Laurentus

Thane of Foreign Releases (voted on by all Citizens)

• The Department of Foreign Releases is tasked with compiling, organizing, and releasing Wintreath's Monthly Foreign Dispatch, aiding in the improvement of activity within our Diplomatic Missions, and assist in the advertisement of regional events and activies abroad. Additionally, it is also tasked with reviewing Foreign Publications pursuant to Section 3 of Decree 006 for approval.

Thane of Embassies (voted on by all Citizens)

• The Department of Embassies is tasked with managing and maintaing our Diplomatic Officer and Mission Programme to other regions and organizations within NationStates.
• The Diplomatic Officer Programme, as ran under this ministry, is to rank each Diplomatic Officer with a general ranking, which the gaining of higher ranks includes privileges and other incentives for the performance of Ambassadorial duties. The exact specifics of this organization are left to the Thane of Diplomatic Officers and Missions.
• The Department of Embassies is also tasked with: scouting out and finding new and promising regions to reach out to and form relations with, aiding the planning and implementation of cross-regional events, and to extend help to regions that might desire aid from Wintreath in certain manners.

Ministry of Regional Affairs, led by Doc

Thane of Integration (voted on by all Citizens):

• Represent the gaming community in the Riksrad and regularly take part in Cabinet meetings and discussions
• Ensure that Citizen applicants are properly welcomed to the region and given information of use to them
• Assist in determining the previous experience, skills, talents, and interests of new applicants and direct them to areas of Wintreath that may interest them
• Encourage Citizens to remain connected and engaged with the community
• Encourage Citizens who have gone inactive to come back and give our community another chance
• Encourage participation in multiple areas of Wintreath (ie. forums, Discord, the region page)

Thane of World Assembly Affairs (voted on by Citizens with a NationStates nation in Wintreath, candidates must have a NationStates nation in Wintreath)

• Determine votes on World Assembly proposals or determine systems to determine their vote
• Ensure that their NationStates nation has the highest number of endorsements possible, at least the highest number in the region.
• Represent Wintreath in communications regarding the World Assembly.

Voting will begin on Monday, June 1st.

I stand for WA Affairs

I hereby stand for re-election to my previous position as Thane of Embassies.

I'll stand for Thane of Roleplaying and Thane of Foreign Releases.

I'll let you all have a moment to recover from the fact I'm not going for Werewolf again.

Holy ship, Pengu. I had a few ideas I’d like to work on, but I initially decided against running because it would be a guaranteed loss against you. But seeing as you’re not standing, I hereby stand for Thane of Werewolf. Have I hosted a game? Nope. But so far the things I’d like to implement don’t really require hosting experience (though hosting games is obviously on my list, regardless of thaneship). I’ll have my campaign thread up tomorrow morning. Thanks for giving me a little hope, Pengu, though I think we’re all gonna miss you.

Been debating this on and off because, like, I don't think I'm remotely qualified but I think changes are needed.

As such I stand for Thane of Integration

@Red Mones: Good luck, I'm sure you'll do a great job in the role! ^_^  If you get it and need any help, let me know.

But yeah, I wanted to try different ministries for once and get a feel.  Roleplay has a lot of potential to it that I think Excal has been doing a great job, but I want to try giving it a shot and seeing what I can do with it.  Likewise, I've always liked doing publications which is the main focus of Foreign Releases, so I wouldn't mind giving a shot spearheading that.

@Hapi: I know you've had some integration ideas, so I think you'd do a great job as well.

What Barnes said, although I'd also say realistically it depends on the type of workload.  Integration, for instance, has a lot of facets to it that you could dive into, so it could be a force on its own...whereas ones like Werewolf are explorable, but not as possibly demanding depending on how you go about it.

And unless you're really good at dividing attention, I'd never recommend taking on a Jarlship and Thaneship since being a Jarl is normally a huge amount of work in its own right regardless of what Ministry you're heading.  Taking on both is usually a really good way to get burnt out since one can help overload the other, especially if you're doing two heavy workload positions such as Thane of Integration and Jarl of Culture.

But yeah...overall it's 1 Jarl/Thaneship combo or 2 Thaneships.

Technically You can run for as many Thaneships as you want, but you can only be given 2 total.

I am actually going to stand for Thane of Werewolf.  I had been thinking about doing it for a long time but with Pengu not planning to I think I will throw myself in since the running of Pengu and Laurentus was a significant reason for my not running among other reasons.

I might also stand for Thane of Gaming but I am not sure if I will.

Hopefully this will be a fun election.

Declining my nomination. As I said elsewhere, I was considering running but will not because Pengu has stood and I trust him to do the job well.

I appreciate my nomination but I must decline. I'm currently serving as WA Minister in another region and in any case the incumbent has my full support.
