For those who are gay, lesbian, bi/pan, or a different sexual orientation, when did you discover your sexuality? It might be interesting to see if most people discovered themselves at around the same time or if there's a lot of differences.

I've already shared my story here, but I was 17 when I discovered my sexuality.

It would truly depend on when you consider the point of discovery. I knew I was attracted to men at a very young age, I only really came to terms with it in 2014-15.

@North: I understand...I guess I'm asking what age would you have first identified yourself as gay, bi, pan, etc?

For me it was 13-14 ish? I didn't really accept it until a year later. But I do have one memory that sticks out from when I was seven that should have given it away...

I first started being comfortable calling myself bi in about 2016

I'm not sure when I started asking myself what my orientation is. Probably sixteen-ish? I know I mentioned on here having to figure out if I'm pan or ace, and those chats helped out, but I was sitting on that for a while.

I concluded ace maybe... two months back? So, bang on 22, or thereabouts. It's kinda tricky figuring out a lack of something. =/

I started to question it when I was 13-14. Decided to experiment with dating girls when I was 15 because I thought I was gay because I wasn't really into the boys I was around. I realized later that year that it was just because the guys I was around were pretty jerky. Landed on pan/bi when I was 16.

Knew I was different when I was 12 and realized I liked guys, knew my attraction was mainly towards them when I was 19.

This happened a looong time ago for me, in Middle School (I was about 11 or 12, so it was about 2009-10). I didn’t know about the term “bi” then, so I just thought I was gay. Over the following years as puberty came on I drew a TON of NSFW art and like half of it was of men.

So from the responses so far, it looks like the average age people settled on their sexuality is 19, and and the median is also 19.

@Katie, @Marzipan: I think it's interesting how all three of us are bi/pan but went through a period where we thought we were gay. I wonder if that's a common step on the road to discovering you're bi/pan.

17 was when I realized I wasn't really sexually interested in anyone at all. But then I met a nice lass and after we were friends for about a year I started to think about her in a way I hadn't before.  Did some research and discovered demisexuality at age 18.

I think I sorta always knew in a way. My sexuality was always there even if I didn't know what was going on. I can remember being a little kid and being truly mesmerized by the male form. I would stare at male gymnasts, figure skaters, divers and swimmers and wrestlers and would be drawn to male underwear ads and the like.

I dont think i consciously realized it until I was like 19. I mean, I was almost completely non sexual and even a little frightened of it until i got out of high school so i never really examined my attraction to guys.
