Wintreath Thane Elections
Nominate and Stand for Election!

In this topic you may stand or nominate someone else to stand for election for one of these thane positions in the Ministries of Culture, Foreign Affairs, and Regional Affairs! Only Citizens can be nominated for or stand for elections. Once you have stood for election, you must create a campaign topic before Saturday, September 1st that at a minimum provides the following information:

1) Why are you running for this position?
2) What do you aim to accomplish as thane? As part of this, you must include at least one thing that you promise to do beyond the minimum listed duties of the position during your term. It should be measurable, so that it's black and white whether you fulfilled this mandate at the end of the term if you are elected.
2a) If you are an incumbent running for re-election, did you fulfill your mandate from the June election? If not, why didn't you?
3) What qualifications or experience do you have in the area that you are running in?
4) How do you plan to have the time to fulfill the duties of the position until the next election in December?
5) Are you currently a part of any other NationStates regional or organizational government? If so, please include those regions and positions.

Once your campaign is posted, the Jarl over the position will vet and either approve or reject your candidacy based on your activity and contributions/history in the area that you are running in, and I reserve the right to reject your candidacy based on your fit within the current Cabinet or regional security concerns. Nominations will be open until Saturday, September 1st, and the list of positions open are below:

Ministry of Culture, led by Gerrick

Thane of Roleplay (voted on by citizens in the RP Guild):

• Represent the roleplay community in the Riksrad and regularly take part in Cabinet meetings and discussions;
• Manage and moderate the forums in the Roleplayers' Gathering;
• Encourage roleplay and facilitate its growth in the region;
• Serve as the Patriarch of the RP Guild;
• Work with the Council to manage the RP Guild and its roleplays by helping members start up and host roleplays, helping find a new host for a roleplay if the host goes inactive, and helping decide whether to reboot or archive inactive roleplays;
• Welcome new citizens who may interested in roleplay, introduce them to the RP Guild and the Roleplayers' Gathering, accept new members into the RP Guild, and help out beginners with roleplaying;
• Other duties determined by the RP Guild.

Thane of Werewolf (voted on by citizens who have participated in a regional game of Werewolf):

• Represent the Werewolf community in the Riksrad and regularly take part in Cabinet meetings and discussions;
• Manage and moderate the "Werewolf/Mafia" board;
• Lead the Werewolf Taskforce (a small group to help with its duties) and appoint its members;
• Start and host games or help others to start and host games of Werewolf;
• Help out beginners and answer any questions they may have;
• Keep the stickied threads updated;
• Other duties determined by the Werewolf Taskforce;
• Must ensure at least one game of Werewolf is started during its term.

LGBT Thane (voted on by LGBT citizens and citizens who have posted in "The Pride" board during the previous term):

• Represent the LGBT community in the Riksrad and regularly take part in Cabinet meetings and discussions;
• Manage and moderate "The Pride" board;
• Facilitate the growth of the LGBT community in the region;
• Welcome new citizens who may be LGBT and introduce them to the Pride and its community;
• Foster inclusivity and support for the LGBT community and its allies;
• Must start/post at least one new LGBT-related discussion or news article per month during its term.

Thane of Gaming (voted on by citizens who have participated in a regional non-forum game):

• Represent the gaming community in the Riksrad and regularly take part in Cabinet meetings and discussions;
• Manage and moderate the "Gaming Lounge" forum;
• Facilitate the growth of the gaming community in the region;
• Promote playing non-forum multiplayer games together as a region (such as Minecraft, Civilization, Town of Salem, Paradox games, and MMOs);
• Welcome new citizens who may be interested in gaming and help them to join regional games;
• Must set up at least one regional game night per month during its term.

Thane of Integration (voted on by all Citizens):

• Represent the gaming community in the Riksrad and regularly take part in Cabinet meetings and discussions
• Ensure that Citizen applicants are properly welcomed to the region and given information of use to them
• Assist in determining the previous experience, skills, talents, and interests of new applicants and direct them to areas of Wintreath that may interest them
• Encourage Citizens to remain connected and engaged with the community
• Encourage Citizens who have gone inactive to come back and give our community another chance
• Encourage participation in multiple areas of Wintreath (ie. forums, Discord, the region page)

Ministry of Foreign Affairs, led by Gattoartico

Thane of Embassy Dispatches (voted on by ambassadors and Orendi article writers from last term)

• Manage our monthly dispatch, the Orendi, and ensure that a new edition is published monthly
• Brainstorm new ideas to improve activity in our foreign embassies
• Write materials to dispatch to foreign embassies, including Orendi articles
• Assist event/activity hosts in creating compelling and informative invitations to events

Thane of Ambassadors (voted on by all Citizens)

• Managing Embassies and making sure we have Ambassadors to each region and managing replacements and filling posts

Ministry of Regional Affairs, led by Doc

Thane of World Assembly Affairs (voted on by Citizens with a NationStates nation in Wintreath, candidates must have a NationStates nation in Wintreath)

• Determine votes on World Assembly proposals or determine systems to determine their vote
• Ensure that their NationStates nation has the highest number of endorsements possible, at least the highest number in the region.
• Represent Wintreath in communications regarding the World Assembly.

Voting will begin on Saturday, September 1st.

I'm having doubts about standing for Thane again. I'm not sure it would be worth it. Hell, I'll stand for RP Thane.

I'll stand for Thane of Ambassadors.  I already do a lot of Foreign Relations as WA anyhow, and getting people into Ambassador positions would probably do well for promoting Wintreath to other regions and such!

I was of the impression that one could only have one Thanedom, but if that's not the case then awesome, I'm sure you could do a solid job doing two.

As is, I nominate BSR for Thane of World Assembly Affairs.

The maximum is two Thanedoms as per Royal Decree.

Also, I shall stand for Thane of Embassy Dispatches, as usual.

I'll stand for Werewolf thaneship again.  I didn't get done what I wanted last term, so I want to give it another shot.

Welcome to everyone running! Don't forget to start a campaign that answers the questions in the OP before the election starts.

Just about a day and a half left to stand for election and get a campaign up! To get some nominations going, I'll nominate the following:

I would like to encourage anyone that's interested to run and to make a campaign.

I know that it's a busy time of year, but as we see now with Summersend we're at our best when people come forward and help build the community and the things that we do. Each Thaneship represents a space that we believe is vital to maintain and grow, and we can't do that if nobody is willing to take on the responsibility of cultivating them. Besides that, it's a great opportunity to make your mark on the region, and to be part of a Cabinet that I believe is one of the most cooperative in NationStates.

I hope every Citizen will consider throwing their hat in the ring for something. I know that each and every one of you have something special to offer.

I'll nominate @Katie for LGBT Thane and Thane of Ambassadors.

I'm going to stand for Thane of integration, because someone needs to do it.

Eh what the heck I will accept the nomination for Thane of Gaming and also stand for Thane of Integration.  Why not make it competitive.

I'll be declining my nomination, I'm afraid. I have no guarantee how active I'll be. Still, thanks for the nomination. =D
