  • What's your Nostalgic Game? Every gamer has one, that one game that hits them right in the Nostalgic feels :]

For me, it's Halo: CE. I've stopped following the game series, especially after Halo 4, but the memories of the first 2, ODST, even 3, always put a smile on my face. But above all, when I see Halo 1 gameplay, when I hear that iconic theme, I'm transported back to being a 6 year old boy playing video games for the first time.

So I'm curious to hear from everyone else, what is your Nostalgic Game?
I Hope You Have A Nice Day :]

  • Original trilogy Spyro. When I was a kid we didn't have any gaming consoles at home, let alone a PC for avaliable use. But at dad's there was a PS1 and I'd often watch my sibling play through the Spyro game we had there. We got hold of the whole trilogy, but for some reason now we have two disks of Gateway to Glimmer and I think the other two instalments are in Malaysia, and I never actually played the first and third games. Still, the game brings back good times, still looks amazing despite technology marching on, and I'm excited to get to know it properly come November.

  • Showing my youth here, but Minecraft.

Unless you count educational kids games like Oregon Trail, that was the first (and for a long time, only) game I played. Was introduced to the game by an acquaintance back when it was in beta, when I was 11. As I grew up I watched the game take over the internet and popular culture, leading to its unfortunate reputation as a simple kid's game. However, the first few worlds I made, as well as early YouTube series such as the classic X's Adventures in Minecraft, continue to hold a special place in my heart.

And I think I've been in Wintreath long enough that I can also look back on its Minecraft server with a certain measure of nostalgia...

  • Legend of Zelda, honestly...as well as Mario.

Even with every new game, I see myself reminiscing back to the SNES and N64 days.  I even bought myself an SNES classic for that reason.  And I cracked it and put some of my absolute favorite titles onto it whenever I'm feeling nostalgic.

But the one game that always has a place in my heart is Final Fantasy Mystic Quest.  It's the game that pushed forth my love of gaming, and despite people's gripes with it, I still absolutely love it to bits.  Whenever I'm feeling especially nostalgic, I play that one.

I really started gaming with the NES, but FFMQ was the one that turned that small interest into a lifelong hobby.

  • For me it's a tie between Halo: CE and Warlords Battlecry 3. I used a lot of mods for Halo after I beat the vanilla version and it was crazy! Especially with mods that added Halo 2 weapons. Warlords Battlecry 3 is always fun, summoning a legion of undead and letting them run rampant is very satisfying. I really wish I could get Halo: CE to work on Windows 10. Now I have a disc that I can't use on my laptop and a download that isn't compatible.

  • Strangely enough, it's probably 1701 AD.  Not sure if any of you have heard of it, but it was the first game that I got into that wasn't just a board game ported over to the computer (ie Risk II, etc).  The only trouble is that it's not compatible with any OS past Vista, even with Windows 10 in compatibility mode.  And there aren't any newer versions of the game either, unfortunately.  Anno 2070 is ok, but future doesn't really what the game is as well as it did.  That being said, they are apparently working on a new one, Anno 1800, to be released sometime soon, which seems like it could be a worthy successor/nostalgia game that could be played on Windows 10 systems, etc.

Other than that, also would have to second Minecraft and Oregon Trail.  In fact, I got in trouble in second grade for some "help" that I gave some of my classmates to ensure that their characters didn't die to snake bites and crossing the Mississippi... :P

  • Hmm, I don't know if I have just one. So I created a list of all the games I feel nostalgic about :P (mostly for myself, though, so I don't forget). They all happen to be from before I left for college (which was 7 years ago now, Jesus). But the first couple games of each console really get me. I can see myself playing them in all the different houses I lived in as a kid, sometimes with my brothers and sometimes with friends over. Good times.

  • For me it's probably SimCity 2000. Back in the day at Wal-Mart they had computers out for people to try, and kids like me would go back there to play games while the parents shopped. That's where I discovered the game, specifically the network edition that let more than one person build on the same map (an idea way ahead of its time). I was obsessed...I'd draw cities on paper in school and imagine how they'd work out and what it'd be like to live in them, and then I'd draw them in paint at home.

Eventually, my family bought me a copy of SimCity Classic, which was good, but eventually I'd buy SimCity 2000 a few years later. :D

A close second is Warcraft II, which I'd play at my cousin's house when I'd go over there. I don't even know how we managed to play it together on one computer, but somehow we'd each control like half the base, and we'd switch the controls to each other when we needed them. Then I bought the game and played it for years...

Finally, Civ II...there was an entire summer where I played nothing but that game. Compared to the original, it felt so much bigger and more versatile, especially with the expansion packs. It's probably the first game where I played expansion scenarios extensively, especially the apocalypse, fantasy, mars, and WW1 scenarios.

  • Oh god yeah Halo: CE was great, we snuck it onto the network drive at a camp I went to and we played it all during break and we all had so much fun! It was a whole tradition and it was amazing. Minecraft holds a special place in my heart as it's always been there, old faithful for whenever I want to kill time and gotten me through some really points in my life. It's also how I met some of my good friends today, as a direct result of some people I met cause of it. With the number of hours I have in it, I can't possibly say anything else.

Honorable mentions go to Terraria for all the fun we had back in the days of 1.1.2, a couple friends and I played it for entire days during a summer on our server, it was great! Wish we could all do that some time again but alas, we don't have the time we used to.
