Let me make this quick because I'm a dumb gay and I forgot February isn't a 30-31 day month.

I didn't do a particularly good job as LGBT Thane, and there's a reason for that: I was afraid of approaching controversy and argument. I had an unrealistic and fantasized version of how an LGBT community works, where we just hang out and have fun. While that could work in a standalone LGBT community, that isn't really realistic here.

So I'm ready to start trying to rev up discussion about controversial issues in the community, and trust me as an angry Lesbian, I have a ton of issues to talk about. I actually wanna talk extensively about being trans and lesbian, and I want to encourage other LGBT members to do the same about their identities and their oppression. I wanna make the Pride to be more political and less a random discussion every now and then about this and that LGBT figure. We could have long, serious discussions about the LGBT movement, about sexuality, about gender, and our community would be better off for it.

Additionally, I'm thinking about developing a list of LGBT wintreans and contact you guys more directly about stuff you're interested, and to develop a close relationship with you guys. Contacting LGBT communities from other regions is something I might explore as well, in cooperation with Wintreaths government, but I'm not sure as of this moment in time.

I know this is totally irrelevant to your campaign, but is your name spelled Mariam or Maryam? Or was that a typo? Just curious.

it is very much relevant to my campaign as it's my right as a Lesbian to spell my name inconsistently.

They're both valid ways to spell it? Idk, I'm using Maryam rn lmao

May I ask some of the more serious topics you'd like to see discussed? And do you think you can moderate and navigate such topics in a way that promotes inclusion and doesn't isolate anyone or divide wintreans?

Good question! Well, one topic i want to discuss at length with you guys is anti-LGBT oppression, such as homophobia, transphobia, lesbophobia, etc. I personally would like to discuss my feelings toward being a trans woman and how i conceptualize womanhood and gender in light of being trans. I would like to see people from other LGBT identities post too about these kinds of issues, as i obviously cant speak for say gay men in the oppression they face. Also, i do would want to bring up discussion over problems in our own community, particularly the growing issue of racism. I've seen it firsthand with how white trans women treat trans women of color and i want those kinds of problems acknowledged and exposed. Our LGBT community should be inclusive of everyone's struggles.

And I'll absolutely make sure to enforce a standard of civility in these discussions. We can disagree all day, but what's important is that it doesn't develop into a personal fight. I'll keep a close eye on these things,  break up fights and if necessary, lock threads  (I don't think i can ban people from the Pride, can I?)

It's because there's already a place to have fun here in wintreath. It doesn't make sense to turn the Pride into a casual typical online community within a casual typical online community. That's what i tried tl do this term, and it was infeasible.

That's understandable, so you don't feel it's desirable or necessary to have LGBT specific events?

Do you think it's possible to do both? I'm all up for an honeat discussion on a pressing topic but I also enjoy the occasional pop culture gossip fest.

Oh, of course! I'm not saying that I'm gonna outlaw those types of discussion. Merely that I'm not gonna emphasize them when trying to court more activity.
