Wintreath Delegate Election
Nominate and Stand for Election!

Here you may nominate someone for or stand for election as the first elected Delegate. As stated in Royal Decree 010, only Citizens of Wintreath who are maintaining a NationStates nation can stand for election as Delegate. Candidates also must be willing and able to join the NationStates World Assembly with their Wintreath nation. Once you have stood for election, you may begin campaigning by creating a topic in this forum. Elections will begin on 1 December 2017.

Robin because he's current Delegate and (as far as I can tell) has done a decent job of managing WA affairs, albeit with some spouts of inactivity due to RL busyness.

Doc and Ashton because Wintermoot brought up the idea of the Delegate also being involved with region page management/outreach, which is particularly important because the RMB is poorly moderated currently, if at all. And for that to work, it makes most sense for people who are actively involved in the RMB to hold the position.
(though I still have no clue why you didn't report obvious trolls/flamers to the NS moderators, they generally will ban them)

I respectfully decline, mostly because I think the WA is kinda dumb, and that's sort of baked into being WAD.

As for reports - I reported that one obvious spammer/flamer/troll (Symboli, or whatever he was masquerading as), because, as said, it was nice and obvious. The major problem seems to be less that that's happening, and more that the contents of the RMB are just a bit shit as RP, and thus a major turnoff to RPers, while also being discouraging to people who just want to chat.
The former problem (the 'shitty RP' part) strikes me as something that should be the purview of the RP Ministry - the latter (the 'discouraging chat' part) does seem like a WAD problem. But a further part of that is that I think the Ministry of Integration should also be engaged with it in some fashion - partially because 2 or 3 of them seem to be complaining that they're not on the forums because they're somehow opaque, and because like it or not, NS is still the major source of a lot of our new blood, and starting integration on the forums seems a bit like starting immigration when someone's at the DMV instead of at the border.

Aw, not wanting to be nominated just makes me think you're even more qualified. "Great [people] do not seek power; it is thrust upon them."

That RMB... it's really annoying, at first I just thought it was odd that anyone would try to run any kind of RP in there, that doesn't even seem like it should work, it's not made for that, but then awhile ago one of them posted something about others not posting unless it's RP related. Can they just do that? Take the RMB for themselves? I don't want to mess up the RP at all, but it seems a little rude to just claim the RMB and make anyone else feel unwelcome. Not sure who started this and made the RMB into an RP only area, but they wouldn't have anything to complain about if they started this on the forum where it would make more sense anyway.

I'm also going to nominate @Elbbsas because it seems like she's recently been trying to do what she can to help moderate the RMB, plus she helped take the lead along with Doc in the Z-Day event.

And Aethelia, I wouldn't worry about messing up the RMB RP since it can't really be messed up anymore than it already is. The RMB is not RP-only, and anyone who tells you otherwise is wrong. They're free to use the RMB for their RPing, but they don't have control over what anyone else wants to post on it.

After doing a quick bit of research, I am going to have to decline for the following reasons.

First, I will be going overseas with family for a good month or so. It would be irresponsible for me to take duties I would be unable to fulfil.
Second, I have very little idea of what the Delegate is supposed to do. The reason for this is because of my third and most vital point.
Third, I am unqualified. I am not part of The World Assembly for the following reason:

I only have one WA nation but my brother has one and he sometimes uses this computer.
Unfortunately that's asking for trouble. We try to identify WA cheats accurately, but we have no way of telling exactly whose fingers are touching the keyboard at any given time. So unfortunately if you don't want to run the risk of being ejected from the WA (or worse), you shouldn't let anyone else operate WA nations from your computer, either.

I do not wish to be responsible for mine or my sibling's nations being deleted. Therefore I made the conscious choice never to sign up for The World Assembly when I first created Pogglind. That reason still applies today.
With these three points, I decline my nomination.

...Which sucks. This would be an election I'm interested in. If there's ever a position to just help babysit moderate the RMB I'd volunteer, but if it's tied to the WA I won't be eligible. Also, the link to Royal Decree 010 wouldn't show the text for me. It worked when I manually navigated to the page, however.

We briefly discussed separating the position in the Cabinet, but the problem is it would still involve this Delegate position that the game requires that few people if anyone wants to do much with.

Why must this be the case? Regional Officers make combining regional powers and WA affairs into one position completely unnecessary, and arguably an archaic holdover.
