Decided to just use a coin toss as I am away from my dice at the moment and it was only fifty fifty. Option 1 won out, sorry my Ferengi friends.


Billy files the paperwork to have the trainee fired but as it's being served he is called downstairs by an irate sales manager. The sub-manager and Billy get into a over-dramatic argument in the middle of the sales floor, eventually causing several more of the sales staff join in on the managers side creating a loud shouting match with Billy alone against their team.

Billy manages to maintain his composure and clear moral tone throughout and finally manages to bring the confrontation to an end when he cites his authority as God, America and Malcolm Farnsworth... Malcom Farnsworth is ofcourse the winning argument.

The next day after hearing about the drama management has left a letter on Billy's desk in the morning: it congratulates him on maintaining company policy and thanks him for doing the right thing.


Months drift by once more and Billy gets to spend a lot more time actually working on the designs for the new system, while Engineering still hasn't come up with all the hardware for the planned m&m III, design has still had a lot of work repackaging the m&m II in ever more appealing cases with flashy logos and superfluous features.

With the senior design manager announcing that this phase of the project is "basically complete" everyone is in high spirits and is looking forward to potential extra time off... That's why Billy finds it odd to have a letter on his desk from Sigmund one of the Production Foremen requesting to receive a full copy of all the designs well before they are supposed to be publicly unveiled. Curious about this Billy digs out Sigmund's personnel file and see's that he has been flagged as having potential ties to Nippon Interactive...

While the Foremen should surely be able to see the designs, Billy isn't sure what to do, should he:

[2] Comply with the request
[3] Offer to take Sigmund out for Sushi
[4] Sell the designs to MMC's competitors before anyone else gets the idea

I'd assume Sigmund. Why would Billy randomly look at his own personnel file at that time?

I don't know, the option is just so out there you can't help but wonder what it leads to. Besides, the sushi may help prevent Billy's shit from turning red from all the tomato soup he's ate over the last few years. He really should eat a more balanced diet. O_O

I'm just curious whether Sigmund'll catch onto the whole Sushi=Nippon thing.

Sorry again for the delay guys, took a few days away to take it easy 'cause I was really busy last week.

Anywho let's get back to Mr Potato...
and with 5 votes out of 7 it seems that option 3 won out at first I thought it was kinda random but we'll see.

While Sigmund is at first bemused by the suggestion after a long pause over the phone he says an abrupt "I see" and a little later withdraws his request for the documents. Billy is quite pleased with himself: he was right about the request and managed to find a smart way to let Sigmund know it.

He managed to escape any wrongdoing and any retaliation from Sigmund, however he will have to remember to keep an eye out for this kind of thing in future.

Billy has spent a long but rewarding year in product management, every-time he sees a m&m computer case he'll know what to look out for, all the little design themes and touches him and those with him have left. The trainees (mostly) did well and Billy will be keeping an eye on them all in the coming year.

Of course he will also remember the trouble he's had with the sales department and with outside influences trying to reach into MMC...

One day coming into work about a year since he started working in product he meets a representative from the personnel department waiting at his cubicle, the rep says that the regional board has been very pleased with his performance, honesty and company loyalty, and as such has offered Billy an immediate promotion and raise to a level 6 Market Research Supervisor.

Should Billy accept the promotion?
