When I left Spiritus a few months back, one of the main underlying reasons was because I knew what I liked and wanted out of this game. I like having fun, and what makes NS fun for me is interacting with friends, having a peaceful online home, and helping to build a community. I love seeing things develop and grow and pull in new people that like what we have here...and I love the way regions seem to become little hubs of activity, with people to meet and stuff people can take part in if they want. Each region's like its own little hub of activity and community.

So I'm curious, what do you get out of being a part of NationStates and/or Wintreath? What are your goals in this game, and what factors figure into the fun that you have here?

As for my goals, I don't know. This month will mark one year of being in NationStates, and in that span I've gone from complete newbie to having led two large user-controlled regions. The only other region I'm involved in at the moment is Lazarus, and that's just as a Citizen, which I enjoy. But then again, I tend to be organic. I never planned to run for President of Spiritus, and I never planned to found my own region...but both happened, and here we are.

Well, I have always loved being a community builder and internationalist. I love helping foster a spirit of teamwork, family and well being wherever I put roots down. I was in a region called the British Federal Union wayyyy back in like, 2005 I think. There we had a fully developed since of identity and camaraderie that extended I think beyond the game. I knew the founder on a personal basis and when you become friends with people at that level I think it adds a whole new experience to the game.

But that experience can be for better or for worse.

Long before coming to NS myself, I ran a small-scale MMORPG that I had started playing back in 2004. Eventually, everyone came to know each other on a first-name basis, some even met each other, talked on the phone, etc etc...but then the personal divisions started showing, and the drama. For example, one person stole another person's wife and ended up getting her pregnant. I kid you not. -.- I finally left cause I was tired of putting up with childishness and drama.

I trust you didn't have that kind of experience.

I most certainly did not, and I am thankful. By and large, my experience was good. There was very little drama, mostly because of the autocratic system of our community, with the responsible and mature leadership making sure nothing got too far out of hand. AS a side note, I had regional t-shirts designed and made up. I wonder if I still have it...

That sounds interesting! The only time I ever remember anyone making shirts is hearing about how Unibot used to have shirts made for UDL members. I have to say, you sound like a very good community person.

I just like people, and a good time. If the two coincide, that's even better

This is a handy diversion for the energies that don't get used up in my job the similarities between a nation simulation game and formulation of policy for governments make it an even better one haha.

That and my imagination is somewhat overactive.

Do you have a position in the current US or another administration?

I work for a think-tank in London that advises the British government. Unfortunately for me, we're only asked to formulate policy on certain matters - if I had my way, the British govt wouldn't be half as stupid as it is.

Such is life.

 Really, I do iit for the fun, interaction, and basically my love of creating certain things from scratch into my own, unique design...which is why I love the rp aspect of this.....

I'm still quite new, so I haven't thought about long-term goals so far, but like most everyone that's posted so far, it's very nice to get together with a group of people to create and come up with something brand new.

When I first created my nation on NS, I wondered if that was all that there was to it, but I was glad to find out it wasn't the case at all. The game turns out to be a lot richer once you begin delving in, and delving into things is something I quite like to, so thus far it's been a fun ride!

I was looking through old posts, and seeing as we have many newer generations of Wintreans since this post, I thought it was relevant to bump...what are you interested in when it comes to NS, and what are your goals in the game and in the region?

I just wanted to make friends who like me for me, I can't say that I have because none of you know my dark side.
