As the title suggests, this is mainly for House Valeria to organise our things for this RP. People from other Houses or independents are welcome to comment occasionally, but I request that people not hi-jack the discussion.

Also, for obvious reasons, @Weissreich can always comment.

This is just because our PM has become a bit cluttered.

So continuing on from the PM, couldn't my primary character have somehow covered up what exactly happened to those families, and the falling-out that eventually happened was because the king discovered what I had done?

If this is too convoluted to work, then I'll suppose killing only the nobles responsible would work. I just worry about my character becoming a Mary Sue.

Also, the character I have in mind would probably have a wife and a mistress.

Definitely a good idea for a House as large as yours to have an OOC/discussion thread. I'd appreciate it if anything important from the messages was cross-posted here, so I can get an idea of where you're coming from with your backstories etc.

I'll just briefly explain my primary character's traits and history quickly.

- Became a Count when he uncovered a plot to murder the king and foiled it by killing the nobles (and possibly their families) responsible, simultaneously replacing said nobles with distant cousins who are more easily influenced and thus extending power a great deal. Also uncovered large weapon shipments and plans for war, proceeding to arrest those responsible and seize the weapons.
- Possibly had a falling-out with the king (the reason is up for debate at this point), but later reconciled.
- Possibly has a wife and a mistress, but no children
- I think I'll just give this character my own name, Laurentus, as I usually do. I was hoping to carry over some of the more despicable traits I usually do when I use this character, but apparently that gets in the way of him being a noble, since Wintermoot would almost certainly never raise such a despicable character to the nobility, however competent he may be.

I'm sure IC Laurentus is just as wily as RL Laurentus, so absolutely.

I would just like to add that there's no real need to worry about OPness amongst your characters. What with your primaries holding the positions you hold in the RL region, there's a lot of space for people to have lots of knowledge, tools, people working for them etc etc etc. As long as you don't try and solve every problem with a hand wave, you should be fine.

Again, using myself as an example - Klause IS a player character for me, but he'll mostly be responsible for moving the plot along. He holds the position of Master of Houses, calling meetings of all the Patriarch's and their delegates/entourages and keeping Wintreath's industry/economy on track. He's also one of the few characters who'll be directly interacting with the Monarch, and will serve as the main distribution point of information that'll keep the story advancing.

You guys are putting incredible effort in so far! I'm really looking forward to seeing the factbook and your character introductions

Hmm. The problem then is that although RL me was once the Thane of Foreign Affairs, I'm not anymore. That goes a bit against the inspiration of positions we actually hold.

I'm glad! That was the next step, but I wasn't sure quite how old we should be.  I know we set ages already, and I like them relative to each other, but I think they should be adjusted a little to account for the longer Wintrean lifespan.

We're still going with the "Tau gets passed over for succession because he left on a big journey" thing, right? I suppose then it would make sense for me to focus more on foreign trade/shipping.

The Patriarch of the House should be oldest IC :p After all, the Head of the House is chosen by age and ability.
