One of the cornerstones of my foreign affairs policy are extremely active embassies...while they are much derided in other regions and some don't establish them, I believe that embassies provide the opportunity to introduce, showcase, and promote the region to other communities, especially with the creation of our tourism program last year. In order to support such an active schedule, I've decided to look into bringing a Thane of Foreign Affairs.

The Thane of Foreign Affairs will be the point person for thinking up and creating content that will be distributed to our embassies in other regions at least twice a month, and preferably once a week. They'll work with me as well as others in the region to produce interesting and exciting content for our ambassadors to send to our embassies. As a thane, they will also be involved in negotiation of treaties and will eventually have some ambassador assignments themselves if they do not already have some. The Thane will also serve on the Riksråd, which advises me on various topics concerning the region and comes together to discuss how to best move the region forward.

I'm looking for someone that has a proven record of activity and content creation, and previous involvement in the FA program or experience in foreign affairs is a plus. If you think you're that person, please apply here with a post detailing any experience that you have in these areas, why you would be the best person for the position, and some ideas as to what you would do in your first month on the job.

Note: This is a Cabinet position, and is restricted to people that are not already serving in a Cabinet in any other region or organization (New Hyperion exempted), although if you are in another Cabinet and wish to take these duties on I'm sure arrangements can be made outside the Cabinet.

I can't actually think of someone who ticks all the boxes. What sort of things will be posted twice a week?

I'm not sure...if I were I probably wouldn't need to hire someone.

I would like to have somewhere around 40-50 embassy postings a year. 12 of those will be Monthly Reports, while 4 should be Orendis...add in usual invites and all that, and that probably leaves about 15-20 things to come up with over the course of a year.

Twice a week seems a bit ambitious if it's anything more than that other update you had us post a short while ago, but I'll name two candidates anyway: @Colberius X and @taulover. Colby has more actual experience with other regions, but tau has become quite a bit more active. Like I said though, I'm not sure anyone ticks all the boxes at present.

We're becoming one of the most active regions in NationStates. I think we're ready for something a bit ambitious.

Hmm, I'll keep an eye out for more candidates.

Sorry, but I must decline, because 1. I'm not that experienced and 2. I don't think I'd be able to keep up such an ambitious schedule.

Yeah, I doubt even I can keep up with it.

EDIT: here's an interesting thought though: this plan is so ambitious that it might be beneficial to hire 2 or more thanes.

Well, although I'm serving in TRRs cabinet right now (coincidentally as FA Officer), if arrangements really could be made, I think I could take a crack at it. If my history in NS journalism is any indication, I've created a lot of content. And my history in culture helps.

I've got the Foreign Affairs experience, but not a conducive schedule. I'm also going to have to decline.

Why I believe I'm the best for this position:  With things like Werewolf, the Lusty Jarl, the previous ______ as the month threads before it was put into Sapphiron's (and occasionally Laurentus') hands, I'm no stranger to deadlines.  And being the Jarl of Culture, I'm also no stranger doing work that helps bring the interest of others to our region, and have even had the pleasure of hosting games and activities with friends and allies from other regions.

Don't forget, I'd also like to know how you would go about getting things running and any ideas you'd have in the position!
