Anyways, onto the speech:
      Hello, as you probably know by now, I'm Rasdanation. I have only been in Wintreath for a few months but as I mentioned earlier, I was nominated, so why the heck not. I may be inexperienced, but here is what I have to bring to the table, or in this case, Wintreath:

• I can bring a new voice to the table, possibly giving new ideas to situations or debates
• I am not self-sufficient, otherwise being open to our fellow member's opinions
• Along with that last thought, I can also see the good in other member's and help voice this idea out the other Underhusens
• I mostly get along with others, as long as they don't sing "Let it Go" or just act flat out annoying

So far that's what has come to mind, if you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Unless the Convention drags on longer than I think it will, it seems likely that this Underhusen will vote on at least one proposal to reform the Storting. What sort of things are you looking for in such a proposal?

Sorry that I haven't answered your question yet Wintermoot, I had a busy day today. And Laurentus yes, I hear Let it Go everywhere I go... causing me to hate it.

Now having the time to look at the past amendments and what has already been proposed, I believe I have your answer @Wintermoot. As of seeing the recent abuse of the rating system in the dumping grounds, I would most likely make a proposal containing the usage of the likes and dislikes system to attempt to prevent this situation again, keeping in mind not limiting freedom of speech too far. Sorry if something related to this has already been proposed, it's possible I accidentally skipped over an amendment. Also to note, not all of the details I have sorted through, just that will be the main topic of my proposal if I get voted in.

Wintermoot and Sapphiron discuss the situation a bit and if you at the past and next few pages, you'll see the problem. It surely is annoying, and I hope a proposal on this could help the situation. Although it has ceased, I hope to prevent this from happening again.

I'm not convinced removing/regulating the karma system will solve the underlying cause: Gov and Chanku throwing their shit at each other and not caring who gets caught in the shit-storm that ensues. They'll just find other ways to do so when the karma system can no longer be used for that purpose.

But anyway, I support the removal of the Karma system, or the regulation thereof, based on what I just saw. It's a very grey area, though. The lines can't be drawn very clearly, so I lean more in favour of at least removing the dislike button, if that can be done.

What I mean by this is atleast limiting usage of it. If someone dislikes an offensive comment, I see the point, but if someone dislikes just because they don't like animal sounds, that's just flat out stupid. But if it is something offensive, then you always have the report button... perhaps that could replace it. But right here I'm just gathering ideas, not making the final solution.

Anyway, given the subjectivity of what is offensive, I don't think phrasing it that way is a good idea. Even if you do think disliking something because it's a farm animal sound is "stupid."

By "offensive," I was more of relating it to discrimination, as of many people would. Although, I have no idea of the difference between one animal noise to the next in text, so I might be wrong on thinking that animal noises being offensive.

I think for outright racist remarks and the like, it makes sense.  However, almost everyone has a different definition of what they consider discriminatory and the like.  One person for example may find "gay" as an insult if used in a derogatory kind of way (IE "That's so gay").  Whereas people like myself really couldn't care less being as it's just a word.  However, going into the full out F word is much more offensive to a wider range of people, so that's a completely different story (no, not the swear "F" word).

I'm open to opinions and so far I haven't been able to come up with many solutions to this. Along with this there aren't that many suggestions from you guys. The current ideas that are up for consideration are currently:

• Get rid of the karma system
• Just get rid of the dislike system
• Replace dislike button with report button

Unless we find another way to fix this, I currently like the idea of just getting rid of the dislike system most.

With the removal of the Karma system, I would - if this is possible - disable it for forums such as the Dumping Ground and keep it for forums such as The Wonderful World of Wintreath. There are definitely places it's worth keeping as much as there are places it really should be disabled for. That way, you'd eliminate the problems of like/dislike abuse in arguments etc and still have a way of showing approval for RP projects and the like

I could definitely get behind that if it were possible to keep it on for some forums.  If we were to do that, though, I'd see if there were a way to reset the system and start it over...that way people could go into those areas with clean slates.
