  • Quote from: The Sa'Saraneth Tribes
Location: Saraneth Falls, Line Mountains, Krall Peninsula.
Population: Roughly 3,000 able-bodied men and women at the last census.
Disposition: Peaceable if hardy folk, the Sa'Saraneth Tribes are famed for their Guest Rites and hospitality. It is, however, worthy of note that the Tribes are said to still wield the powers that, when turned to that end, altered the course of one of the most powerful rivers in all of Wintreath, and the blood of the wild territories in the North still runs thick in their veins.
Physical description: As a generalisation, Sa'Saranethi men and women stand at roughly six foot tall, with broad shoulders that have given rise to the unfounded assumption that they are squat and somewhat dull of thought. Their skin is pale but tans quickly, although it is rare to see shaven men and even the women have a soft bur of downy hair on their backs, arms and legs. The men are given to braided beards and long hair, oft drawn up in severe ponytails, whilst the women have their hair up in coils and braids as well.

    Clan History
The people of the Sa'Saraneth tribes are native to the lands of Wintreath, although their current Howe in the peaks and gorges of the Line Mountain Range is not their first. Over some hundreds of years, the Sa'Saranethi have migrated southward, following the edges of the great ice sheets of the last Great Winter as they advanced across the lands. However, with the retreat of the ice and a return of temperate weather, the Sa'Saranethi found themselves in far more hospitable territories than they'd imagined, and the swiftly flowing melt-waters of the Saraneth River made returning Northwards an unattractive - if not impossible - task to undertake.

The Sa'Saranethi are a people of many skills, and their new home gave ample canvas-space for experimentation. The rockworkers and stonemasons who for so long had the unenviable task of sheathing sledge-runners against damage now found themselves with both material to work and a requirement to do so, turning the barren cliff faces above the waters of the river into cavernous dwellings for the entire tribe. How exactly they work the stone remains a closely guarded secret, but the new home of the tribes continues to expand to this day.

Recorded history within the tribes is mostly kept by word of mouth, but the cadre of Whisper Weavers does its best to fill their newly constructed bookshelves with bound texts. It's not known, or at least it is not remembered, if the peoples who make up the Sa'Saranethi came from the Far North or from somewhere within the Huggtänder Mountains, but for all their civility their well-mannered way of speaking is but a veneer that serves to conceal the savagery that flows through their blood still.
    Clan Governa (Governance)
The Sa'Saranethi exist in a meritocracy, by which those who prove their worth in particular areas or skill sets are given seniority within that area or profession. The tribe is led by a Combata Legate, who runs the military and can be challenged (with due process) to a one on one duel for the position; a Culta Legate, drawn from the most experienced Whisper Weavers and who cannot be challenged until a term is up (5 years); and a Magnus Legate, the overall head of the tribe and a hereditary title, although he can be challenged and lose the position as usual.
    Clan Culta (Culture)
Sa'Saranethi culture is as diverse as the tribe is old. With the tradition of inducting hunter gatherer communities into the Sa'Saranethi culture after conquest or trade, the tribe has many different traits and practices. In some regards, one could draw parallels between the Sa'Saranethi and the ancient Phoenicians of Earth (for their travelling and colonising) and in others between them and the Ancient Greeks (for their learning and intelligentsia).
    Clan Combata (Military)
As the tribe was until recently constantly on the move in a bitter Winter haunted by foul beasts oft twice the height of a man, it was and remains a requirement that every man, woman and child above the age of 14 be able to wield sword, spear, bow or staff. The Combata Corus is responsible for the training of all able-bodied tribesfolk, and it is through this training that adolescents are bound to the will of the Tribe.
    Clan Monetaria (Economy)
Living in a meritocracy, the peoples of the Sa'Saranethi tribes do not have monetary currency; instead, a barter economy exists within which goods are exchanged for services rendered. A subsistence 'grant' is provided by the Governa which gifts food and clothing to those who cannot otherwise provide it themselves.

Not finished yet but shouldn't take me too long :)

    Ritchtka tribe
    Description
The Ritchtka Tribe is a periodically nomadic tribe, settling every 20 years in a different place. They are a smaller tribe of only 300, and are rather technologically handicapped, with the most inventive designs coming from the tribe are general purpose weapons, which shall he expanded upon. The language spoken by the tribe is a precursor to the Mando'a of modern Yaim Rusur, with hints of other languages as the tribe learns of new things.
    Culture
The Ritchtka tribe is one that knows very little other than the cold embrace of snow and wind. Thus the only god they pray to are essentially animal spirits who grace them with food and shelter. The  nature of their home environment has led them to lead a purely meat and tundra grain diet, with no fruits or vegetables, and they would be hesitant to try them. They might be considered a more barbaric tribe, and whilst this is true in many cases they have knowledge in a large range of subjects. Things such as animal and herb health benefits, complex and flowing fighting styles, and most importantly, a superb skill in horseback riding. Though mostly nomadic, when they do settle in an area they build wooden and stone homes, not unlike those of the Mohawk Native Americans. To compare them to other Real life groups, one would compare them to the Mongols and Huns, and combine their lives with the weapons similar to the African tribes and Dothraki of Game of Thrones.
    History
The Ritchtka people originate from an ancient tribe that wandered off north in hopes that they would one day find a home among the Northern Lands near the Mountains. They then became somewhat organized and began developing their own culture, fleshing out their own language and creating a government-elder and chief system. The Ritchtka soon began the nomadic process of moving around every few years. Their life revolved around 3 things, the Mount (Horses most common, but Reindeer and other hooved animals where not uncommon), Hunting, and honor. Living near the ice coated mountains, called the Cerar be Oya'lahaabar (Mountains of Living Terror) to the Ritchtka, they evolved with much more prehensile limbs, resembling that of an ape. These people would later become the group that would break away from Mandalore in the present to become Yaim Rusur.
    Mounts and other Animals
The Ritchtka people are heavily dependent on their mounts, as they are the centre of their lifestyle. They are literally born into a saddle at birth in a grand ceremony, worship a god and his holy steed, and most importantly, utilize them in combat and hunting. The beasts are wide ranging in terms of shape, size, and species. The most common are the horses, small and stocky beasts similar to Icelandic Horses or mongolian horses. The next most common are Reindeer. These were prized by the Ritchtka for their nobility, being ably to use their own mount as a weapon in battle by (somewhat inhumanely) sharpening their antlers to be used in a charge. There are other larger reindeer, more like a moose than a their smaller cousins, and these were saved for the higher positions in the tribe due to their imposing appearance. Small children would ride younger animals or small deer, and shamans would ride creatures like a type of bison. The hunters sometimes used birds of prey to hunt smaller game. The biggest non ride-able animal was what they called the nekhu. The Nekhu was a large tiger like creature, with some strange traits that had been bred in the line. This included a wide face, giving it a strange smile and non-feline face. The beast also had especially large claws on three of their toes and each paw, helping them in both climbing and hunting large game such as mammoths. The creature is of average about 4.4 meters in length including their tail and stood 1 meter in height. While they were primarily used in hunting, the tribesman of the Ritchtka would not be against using them as an excellent terror weapon in times of war. The A'lore of the Ritchtka currently has a nekhu that is larger than most, and it is said that he has known the beast since birth, and that it grows in power with him. Average lifespan of a nekhu is around 59 years in modern human years.
    Weaponry & Technology
The weaponry of the Ritchtka has to be the most advanced technology available to the tribe. The craftsmanship of the different swords, axes, staffs, are all intended to have as many capabilities on one tool as possible, to allow weight to be reduced as opposed to carrying multiple tools. There is one type of sword used, called the Beskad, is a cross between a kopesh sword and an actual sickle, with sharp edges on both sides (Think of the Dothraki Arakh from Game of thrones). This allows it to cut very well, cut wood and grains, and used as a climbing hook. Another weapon is the spear-scythe, or Beviirabes. This tool has a massive spear head, resembling a small sword, on one side, with a large curved blade on the end for hooking enemies, prey, or and opponent mount's legs. There are also simple tools such as tomahawks with large curves and rear spikes, making an axe with both climbing hook and ice pick, and various shaped knives, all to aid in combat and hunting.
    The People
The people are short, with few members ever reaching above 1.6m in height. They have feet that largely resemble hands, with toes that can act as fingers for holding on to foothold on horseback should the rider loose his boots. In the face they resemble real-life Yupik eskimos, and often have black hair and dark eyes, with some exceptions. Clothing is comprised of handmade sheepskin and fur coat-like clothing with bear hide pants, with the fur facing inwards for insulation. The lower legs are covered with animal fur wrappings with a heavy glovelike sock, allowing the feet to grasp things. Over these socks, sheepskin boots are worn, and these also have fur on the outside, wool inwards. The hands are covered with leather gloves, typically made of horse or other riding animal hide, with fur or wool on the inside, and some fashion small metal claws for the fingertips of these gloves. The people live most of their lives on the back of a mount, horse or otherwise, and they live by hunting, herding sturdy livestock, and occasionally sacking small towns or tribes. They use violence more as a middle response, first offering trade, then attempting attack, and if that fails, giving up.

  • Though their technology would allow a greater standard of living than they have at present, members of the House of Robin consider the spartan lifestyle to be one more compatible with their code of honour and their various traditions.

That being said, the House's technology still is quite advanced in the realms of weaponry and warfare, their repeating crossbows probably give them the greatest advantage in combat.
Hold the phone. IRL, the Chinese didn't invent the repeating crossbow until ~400 BCE, and it was always a fairly rare weapon. Why would what is supposed to be a primitive tribe have this kind of technology?

  • Trih'yo Thet: The Peace of the Three Rivers (VERY WORK IN PROGRESS JUST A PLACEHOLDER)

    History
The people who we now call the Trih'yo Thet were once three very different tribes: The Hisinya, the Onala, and the Ahtsaya.
The Hisinya, the People of the Torn Leg, lived by the very large river to the south that flowed from the great Fish Lake. They are a very warlike people and, led by a belief that the spirit world needed human blood, frequently practiced ritual bloodletting from their calves and thighs, hence the name.
The Onala, People of the Bare Head, lived by the large river to the north that bled out into the ocean. These people, unlike their neighbors, keep most of their hair shaven.

Well it depends on how the crossbow is made, because it is possible to make a fairly primitive repeating crossbow. If it was something like any type of firearm I could see how that would be a problem, but crossbow could be made to work in a stone age setting, even repeating

Pardon the interruption, but stone age crossbows are not viable. To make a basic crossbow, you first of all need to know how to make a strong shortbow, which makes it necessary to know what kind of wood to use, how to prepare it, and how to shave it down. Next step is to make it into a crossbow, which needs some form of trigger mechanism. We're talking stone age here, so metalworking is out of the question. That leaves the primitive stick-in-hole kind of mechanism, in which the stick acts like a hook, and pulling the stick out releases the string. There are issues with this. First, this mechanism is difficult to use. The stick can either get jammed, or lets the string slip. Second, sticks aren't exactly durable. a crossbow with any kind of decent power to it would break that mechanism, or at least cause major damage over time. A repeating crossbow is not too different from a regular crossbow, so no issue there.

Summary- you can't make a powerful or efficient crossbow without advanced metalworking knowledge.

Here are some videos to prove you wrong, mind you these are people who would probably know the differences in wood, even without knowing specific names of the wood, also as shown in these videos the trigger system is quite simple. Also note that there were stone tools quite well adapted for some metal tasks such as carving. As a side note, the one creating such technology is BraveSirRobin, who is isolated on an island, therefore would be able to advance the technology very quickly without interference. P.S. I think metal working would fine if you can explain how you discovered it and what your sources of the metal are. So no steel, but early copper and bronze maybe?

Huh, that bamboo trigger is pretty neat, I stand corrected on that point.

We are talking stone age here, which means metalworking (i.e. smelting) has not yet been invented. So then, pure or near-pure metal can only be gathered from meteorites- raw ore that you would collect from a cliff face wouldn't be much more useful than any other stone. Do you have a source for the stone metalworking tools?

Oh, and of course for RP purposes it'd be pretty cool if @BraveSirRobin 's tribe discovered how to smelt metal, and later shared it's discoveries with others.

P.S. I've dropped the acronym thing, you don't need to capitalize the letters. Unless you are a capitalist...

I was not saying stone tools used to shape metal, I was saying stone tools used to shape wood instead of metal
