  • This topic is for factbooks. Your factbook is also your application. Feel free to add any relevant information later on.

Your factbook should include a character list with descriptions, a description of pseudo-government systems, a backstory of your tribe, and basic military/defense. These descriptions may be as brief or lengthy as you wish. You may add other sections as you please.

  • Here is my skeleton of a factbook:

    The Cobuski Tribe
    Description
The Cobuski tribe is group of nomadic, peaceful traders. They only used weaponry as defense, never to attack other tribes. They hunted deer, elk, foxes, and snowtrunk elephants. They also farmed frost peppers, a common spice in Wintreath, frostmelon, snow peas, and iceberries. The Cobuskus people contained some of the most skilled craftsmen in Wintreath.
    Culture
The Cobuskus people worshiped Jhue and Yhue, who in their beliefs, are twin gods. Jhue is the god of snow, clouds, and peace, while Yhue was the god of Storms, monsters, and war. They believe that if they worship Jhue, she would bring them fortune and good luck for the year. They worship her by dressing in snow-like outfits and performing a ceremonial dance and song. Then, each tribe member would donate a luxury by throwing it into the fire pit. The Cobuskus people also believed that if they worship Yhue, then he would promise to direct warring tribes away from them. They worshiped him by doing the same ritual, except dressing up in barbaric clothes, with war paint showing the tribe's war symbol on it. They do these rituals once a year.
    Ruling System
The ruling system of the Cobuski tribe is a Dynastic Monarchy. The current dynasty in power is the Cobusk Dynastly, thus giving the name of the Cobuski Tribe. The ruler is given the title Muisa. The oldest child of the dynasty will become the new succesor of the dynasty. The Cobuskus people call successors Redjis.
    Dynasty
Current Muisa: Palca Cobusk [Pal-Ka Co-Bus-k]
Current Redji: Ihma Cobusk [Eeh-Ma Co-Bus-k]
    History
The Cobuski Tribe is a fairly new tribe, only forming about 25 years before the present day (the first day of the IC) Overall, they have not seen many invaders, giving them little to no combat experience.
    Weaponry & Technology
The technology of the Cobuski Tribe are adapted to fit trading needs, with them having throwing and melee spears, canoes, and wagon-like structures, to move trade recources.
    The People
The Cobuskus people look somewhat like this
    Cobuskus People
in normal day attire and their war symbol looks like
    War Symbol

    The Cobuskus Calender
The Cobuskus Calendar is made up of twelve months and two seasons:

The first day of Jhunesa is when they worship Jhue
The first day of Yhusen is when they worship Yhue
    Seasons
Olken (Blue Months) Represents when the Cobuskus people can grow crops.
Huahi (Red Months) Represents when the Cobuskus people can't grow, and must hunt instead.

    Xacarus Clan
    History
Not much is known about the Xacarus' past, but few events are recorded.

The Xacarus Clan once was part of a larger tribe, but left due to conflicting ideals. Known for their seafaring skills, they sailed north and settled in relative isolation. They developed a taste of the sea and hardly leave the coast.
    Government (Council)
The government is mostly lead by a council, which is made up of 15 individuals, and is lead by the king. However, the council has more power than the king. The king is elected by the council from a noble house.
    Military
The military is small, but all men are required to have some training in combat due to the clan's small population. This totals in ~800 men that are able to fight.
    Characters
King Vlasi Ioann: Vlasi Ioann was voted as king after a series of hard setbacks hit the clan. He managed to make the clan survive through these times and become popular from all.

Cueldreth Family: The Cueldreth Family is a particularly skilled family. They assisted Vlasi Ioann in the harsh times. They are known to be skilled for a variety of things.
    Population
There are around 1,500 thousand people in the clan.
    Culture
The Xacarusians are a seafaring people. They mostly stick to the coast. Their main source of food is fish, but they also hunt on the mainland. They construct fur huts to keep them warm. Whatever wood they manage to find on the mainland is constructed into small but maneuverable and durable boat. Sometimes they manage to catch whale.

  • My outline:

    The House of Robin
    Government and Law
    DOMINUS
The Master of the House of Robin, and absolute ruler.  He can convene with the Council of Elders for advice, or delegate power to them, but s/he has the ultimate say in all affairs, foreign and domestic.

    COUNCIL OF ELDERS
Comprised of the nine most esteemed members of the House of Robin, and led by the Dominus of the House of Robin, the Council of Elders convenes every new moon, and, according to legend, has since the beginning of time.  Their decisions, cannot be countermanded by anything but the will of the Dominus himself.  Each member of the Council of Elders is also the head of a sub-house, and upon the death of the Dominus, internal war often breaks out among the houses for leadership of the council, including the House of the reigning Dominus. (While the head of a house is Dominus, their house temporarily takes the name of the entire House of Robin, and reverts back to the name of the House Elder after the Dominus dies.)
    Culture and Society
The Robin Code of Honour is what holds most of the society together, as well as the Knights of Robin, the officers in the House's military, Robin's Host.  The Host of Robin can only be summoned by the Dominus though, and is only summoned when the independent forces of the houses cannot vanquish an enemy on their own.  The acquisition of material possessions comes second to the requirement of the satisfaction of honour.
    Technology
Though their technology would allow a greater standard of living than they have at present, members of the House of Robin consider the spartan lifestyle to be one more compatible with their code of honour and their various traditions.

That being said, the House's technology still is quite advanced in the realms of weaponry and warfare, their repeating crossbows probably give them the greatest advantage in combat.
    Military and Tactics
    The Host of Robin
Well armed and equipped, the Host of Robin (and the Familial Hosts of the nine Houses) is constantly reconsidering its ways of waging war, constantly on the lookout for new technologies that may give their people greater command of the fertile land surrounding their island on the lake.
    Common Host Tactics
There are various routine operations that are conducted by the various houses of the House of Robin, all generally designed to simply hone the combat skills of the warriors of the Dominus' dominion.  They include:
    Procursat
The Procursat is the most common operation conducted by the forces of the eleven houses, usually against weaker nomadic traders and farmers on the coasts of the Mang Loc, the great lake surrounding their home island.  Generally involving Maniples (90 warriors) led by a Primus, they usually are deployed in four Karve longboats, each generally capable of deploying 30 warriors.
    Vigiliat
The duty of all of the houses for one month of the Robinian year, the Vigiliat is the greatest duty of any House, as it it the protection of the home island through the manning of its defences and the use of the House's patrol fleet to ensure that there are no invaders.  Generally they find nothing, but if they do find invaders, the House on guard will consider the invasion a direct attack on their honour, and respond accordingly to restore their name.  (Namely, by slaughtering every last relative of the invaders.  It's not a pleasant ordeal...)
    Domocolonas
An operation only occurring when one of the Houses must find new lands to populate, a Domocolonas involves the deployment of 600 warriors to escort a group of 2,000 colonists to a new land, along with the equipment, supplies, and knowledge (they bring along the complete knowledge of the House of Robin in a colossal library wagon) to found a successful colony to expand and bring greater glory to the House of Robin.
    TBC
    TBC
    Economy and Trade
The economies of the different houses vary greatly, and theft from one house by another isn't unheard of, though it is usually uncommon.  Most houses farm for a portion of the year, and move their Ovumgrex (sheep herds) outward during the summer.  Trade is also conducted with the Karves, which are very versatile vessels indeed.
    The Houses
    The Ruling House of Delum
The current ruling house of the House of Robin, ruled by Dominus Marius Delum, is the Noble House of Delum's (Delar when not the ruling family) Patriarch.
    The House of Forar
    The House of Eltar
    The House of Sormar
    The House of Quirar
    The House of Serurar
    The House of Endecar
    The House of Bellar
    The House of Cognitar

  • The Istnor Clan
    Background
The Istnori live in a southern area of Wintreath, centered around what would become the city of Galdémere, which they call Istosto. Despite being quite inland, the river system in the region has created a temperate, fertile environment. Much of the Istnorin territories are temperate rainforest, providing ample food for hunting and gathering.

The Istnori are semi-nomadic, with somewhat sedentary villages constructed in the forests. However, they will move around as necessary for hunting-gathering needs. The bountiful nature of their homeland has caused a lack of incentive toward agriculture, though farming does exist at a smaller scale. The Istnori practice slash-and-char agriculture to a sustainable level for farming purposes.

"Istnor" roughly translates to "the wise," and the Istnori pride themselves in their knowledge and wisdom. The Istnori study the earth, stars, and people around them, and seek to remain open to new ideas. Istnorin knowledge of medicine is relatively vast, with knowledge of various herbs. Nearly every village has one or more healers, or curuvari, who often share their knowledge with others. Rudimentary observatories also exist throughout Istnor, usually also doubling as watchtowers. The Istnori also send out many explorers and traders throughout Wintreath, in an attempt to make ties with other tribes and learn more about the world around them.
    Government
Istnor is remarkably egalitarian, particularly on the local level. Each village (or other group of Istnori) is led by a Cáno, or chief. Cánor are chosen by the people, and in most cases serve for life. However, some villages are known to have Cáno who serve for short periods of time, often for specific purposes. A Cáno administrates his people on a day-to-day basis.

Cánor, however, cannot make major decisions without calling an Ocombë, or assembly. An Ocombë is a gathering of all people, whether they be man, woman, or child. During an Ocombë, the people make the decisions, with the Cáno holding a major advisory role.

All of Istnor is led by the Aracáno, or high chieftain, from his seat at Istosto (Galdémere). Each Cáno sends a representative, called an Arandur, to Istosto to serve on the Aracombë, or high council. Although the Aracáno rules all of Istnor, the individual groups and villages retain heavy autonomy.
    Military
All Istnori receive basic training in the art of war as they grow up, particularly in strategy/tactics, archery, and hand-to-hand combat. Thus, their Cáno can call them for aid in event of war. Those who choose to specialize in war, such as the Quingaqueni (archers), are called Ohtar (warriors). The combined Istnorin military force is called the Hossë, and is commanded by the Aracáno.

    Other terms:
    Quingaquen: Archer
    Sanar: Strategist (literally "thinker")
    Hesto: Captain

    Background
The Incánus Clan started off on the mainland, and walked over to the island when there was a land bridge to hunt for food. Eventually, the sea cut off the bridge, but the people thrived on the island.
    Council
The Incánus Clan is led by a Council of all the able adult men (see Military). Within the Council, men break up into smaller groups. Each group has a job to do. One group might be in charge of law and order, while another might be in charge of village festivals. The Council elects a chief, who assigns each group a responsibility. Every year, the groups get different jobs to ensure that no one group becomes too powerful.
    Military and Tactics
Everyone in the Council has to have had two years of mandatory service in the military. This is to ensure that if the clan ever gets attacked, the people in charge can defend themselves and keep the Incánus Clan alive.

Their main attack's and tactics consisted of guerrilla warfare, often using hit-and-run type warfare to harass others.
    Weapons and Tech
The Incánus Clan's main weapon is the bow and arrow. A double curved bow was used as Incánus's weapons. These bows were prepared according to the length of each archer. They also used spears, war clubs, and hide shields for battle and hunting.

When in battle, they have developed technology to raise their living standards to above what they had before.

  • Is it just a problem for me or are the tabs not correctly appearing for spoiler tabs?

    i think its just you

It's not just them.  I have a similar error on the computer that I'm using.

From what I can see some people have created the outline of their factbook but not actually filled in some or all of the sections. It might be worth... @xXTheHydraXx @taulover @BraveSirRobin (Only one section to fill) @Commander_Zemas @Rasdanation.

I've checked quotes and either the information has been wiped or certain spoiler boxes weren't filled out in the first place :)

I'll also be putting a factbook together once I've eaten!
