And so begins another year.

Tomorrow I go back to work after a three week vacation...I have to admit, I'm not all that excited, because I feel like the stresses of work in 2016 had a detrimental effect on me, especially the whole cutting everyone's salary for three months thing back in the spring. I'm also convinced that my natural clock is to sleep between 3am and 11am, and there's no way I can do that with work...oh well, maybe I'll be independently wealthy someday.

My vacation was excellent though...besides recovering mentally from the year, I also received some great things that I'm using daily, I rearranged my room so that I'm looking into the room instead of at a wall when I'm sitting at my desk, I cleared out a bunch of old junk that I'd just stored in drawers, and I changed my lifestyle in small ways while maintaining my workouts (for the most part!).

Has anyone played Diplomacy before? Apparently, it has a long history of mail/email play, and as such would probably be well-suited to a forum game...

Shall we get working on setting up a game? More games and more variety of games are always good.


@Justinian Ezkantion , my wife and I are thinking about spending New Year's in Louisville. Is there anything you'd suggest we do or stay away from?

Aww shit, I know this is a little late but mostly just stay away from the west end and you should be fine. As a history buff I recommend the Frazier History Museum if you're into that sort of thing. Oh, and grab a bottle of Bourbon while you're there. It's what we're known for.

On the subject of Bourbon, I don't know how you Americans stand the stuff. I've tried some really expensive ones, and it just doesn't hold a candle to a good Islay Scotch.

Nah, you're good. We just ended up staying in for new year's. We got a couple cheesecake factory gift cards for Christmas, though, so yesterday we went there and a movie on the east side (I'm assuming that's the rich people suburbs cuz those houses we're nice as hell) since we live right next to a bridge further up river and got to bypass the toll bridges.

And I'll have to remember that museum for when we go downtown in the future, though, so thanks. I think I tried bourbon once and didn't like it so I haven't tried it since, but I guess it's worth another shot. Any recommendations?

Lol, pepes are so snobby about their alcohol around here. Like, all beer smells and tastes like something rotten.. I think it's an acquired taste, so you'll literally like whatever you want to like. Usually your reason for wanting to like something is other people around you who like it.

Though, some top shelf scotch on ice tastes damn good.

You'll find that a common thing with pretty much any alcohol here.

It's much more rare to see people drink any type of alcohol that isn't exceptionally cooled/on ice, and if they do...they're probably not from around here.

There are some incredible stouts out there.

My favourite Scotch would probably be Aberlour 18. It's like Satan made it as a peace offering to God. It is just so smooth and creamy.

About the only thing I drink these days is water, milk, and tea...though I have a few liters of cream soda I should probably at least not waste.

Also, finally finished off the pumpkin pie...the last piece of the holidays, gone. v_v

Indeed, though honestly some literal cold rocks dropped in is better - doesn't dilute the scotch.
Cold drinks are more refreshing, I like the little clink clink sound ice makes, and cold drinks are more refreshing.

I don't think there's a single alcoholic drink that I like better warm than cold.. hmm.. buttered rum perhaps.
