So, new dietary rules that I put in effect for myself on the 13th:

No soda
Only one sugary treat a day
No eating after 10pm
Cut back on meat (not a rule, but a general guideline )

So far, so good...I had the caffeine withdrawals early last week, but since then I've had more energy and focus than I had before. Ironic since caffeine and sugar are supposed to raise energy, lol.

Anyway : How much coffee/tea did you drink daily before the diet?

As a follow-up to the situation with Frito, they have done the ultrasound on him to figure out what is going on.  He hasn't been eating well and has lost a bit of weight.  So far they noticed his liver was abnormal and there are lumps in his spleen.  They are taking samples now as I write this.

I honestly do not know how to handle this.  My ability to think logically is being clouded by emotions and I don't know what to do.

I wouldn't really call it a diet, just lifestyle changes...though I guess I did call them dietary rules.

Usually I would have several cans or bottles of Coke...however, I recently read that even a single can of Coke has more sugar than the recommended daily allowance, which is what prompted this change. I also wanted to feel more like I used to when I quit soda last autumn, before giving back into it over the holidays.

I'm sorry you're going through so much with him right now. I remember how it felt when my dog had problems...they're like members of the family, and I know many people who haven't owned pets don't understand that. It seems you have a large group of sympathetic friends to support you though...rely on them to help carry you through.

It looks like he has some form of cancer in the spleen.  At the very least until they can confirm what type, they are sending him home tonight with liquid steroids so his appetite improves.

Depending on what type of cancer it is, my treatment options are chemotherapy,  surgery,  or steroids.

And I hope your cat gets better Gov, my dog was operated last week and it might also be cancer... she's getting better though, I hope Frito does too
