Hmm... I think, as always, there's been a hell of a lot of media over-hype (the word we use in the office) surrounding the exit campaign. A lot of the right-leaning or actually right wing papers have come out in support of a Brexit, and that means that a lot of the media coverage has been blowing up the support the exit campaign has been getting. Unfortunately, a lot of what they've been saying has been absolute bullshit, lies or fearmongering to make people vote the way that specific paper or papers want them to vote, so there's not really been a lot of factual information circling in the press.

As usual, and as I can evidence by pointing to the Scottish independence referendum of '14, whichever side is the more contentious gets the most coverage. It's made it rather hard to gauge one way or the other the end result, but from the people I've been speaking to and the research projects I've been running or involved in over the past months, I feel relatively confident in saying I think we'll remain.

However: the aged vote is one that can't truly be measured because a lot of them barely bother to politically engage except when something like this comes around. The turnout is predicted to be almost 50 million out of 65 million total GB citizens, and as a country with an aging population that gives disproportionate voting power to the generations who're above the 55/60 age mark. Unfortunately, they tend to only care about themselves, or be rather insular, and don't properly engage in issues beyond how they'd affect their pensions or their communities.

Much of the youth vote seems to be in support of a remain vote, which is excellent, but a lot more than I'd expected are voting for exit. That's mostly - MOSTLY, from what I've seen - due to the way their parents vote or the area they're from, not because they've done much research. Hell, this has been one of the most poorly held referendums/public votes in history - everyone has been telling you how bad things would be if we stay in or if we stay out, but no one has been saying "here's WHY you should vote in/out".

I say reasonable confidence, but frankly it could go either way.

Have you not heard about Brexit? It's a referendum being held in the UK today over whether they're going to remain in the EU or leave.

I'm thinking (and hoping) they'll remain, but, like Weiss said, it could really go either way.

This is literally the kind of attitude I've spent the last 3 months of my life trying to stamp out.

Sure, Brussells is 'unelected' - if by unelected you mean selected by the elected politicians of each member country. If you want to complain about who's running the EU, vote for a different party at home. That's what it comes down to. That's all it comes down to. Every issue in this debate can be pinned on terrible domestic policies of past and present British governments.

Not the fucking EU.

As a concept, I actually rather like the idea for Britain to move away from the EU. Realistically, it seems like it will lead to all sorts of new problems to replace the old ones, though.
