In all honesty, it could have been much worse, can't really tell in that photo, but there's a pretty steep ditch right next to that tree. So, if I hadn't hit the tree, I likely would have had more serious injuries

Funny story about that! When I got my insurance, the lady talked me up the extra level to pay for all these ridiculous circumstances, and apparently that level doesn't include collision 'comprehensive' my ass. The police were pretty helpful though.
