Question.
In around three months or so (I'm aiming for about Sum-- er, Winter's end) I'm hopefully going to run Wintreath Escape Room 3. But before I start plotting out the shape of the room(s), I wanted to work out which were the least enjoyable puzzles of the last two. You know, so I know to avoid them. (For example my asshole word/number puzzles at the end of 2 seemed like people didn't like them. Who knows, maybe they were fun, but brute forcing things doesn't look too satisfying on my end).
So, yeah. Anyone remember what they disliked?
Talking about the Room in general. Since this one won't be tied up with the festival (and thus won't have other games waiting for it to hurry up), I'm hoping to include multiple rooms. I partially did that in the last game, but they were all situated in the same space, and the overall goal of the Room was visible from the start. I am not certain if I can pull off a series of rooms without things coming across as too "same-y" (or running into arc fatigue) but I'll give outlining it a try and see what comes out. It'll also have the side effect of hitting a "reset button" upon entering each room, letting people easily jump in and out of the game, as there's less reading required to enter. Also, visibly labeling each puzzle once discovered might be helpful. What I'm not too sure about is what I'll do for a hint system in this, or if I'll include one.
Guh. I think I'm overthinking things. Any thoughts?
