The ship isn't FTL. It can go up to light speeds, but not beyond that.

I thought some people were already experimenting with FTL, and that our ship was itself a prototype (albeit a very dangerous prototype).
I know this is really off topic, but who's excited for Stellaris? Its going to be a great sci-fi game.Perhaps we can find a warp drive like the 3 options in Stellaris? https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/index.php?threads/stellaris-dev-diary-4-means-of-travel.886502/

We actually have a Paradox discussion thread elsewhere on the forums, if you're interested in their other games.Warp drives would be cool with me, along with the wormholes thing - perhaps something like Spore, where we discover some drives or something that prevents the ship from being ripped to shreds when passing through.Edit: Apologies for my inaccurate statement regarding the current state of FTL.
Unless we're completely throwing Einstein out of the window here, travelling at lightspeed will require a form of warp drive or similar. And is there a stasis chamber or similar on-board? If not, the years-long timeskips will certainly be interesting.

And how are we going to manage the years-long travel time between systems?
Is there any FTL communications technology, such as an ansible or similar?
