The Campaign For Reon.

  • Morning, my dear citizens. And welcome to the campaign of the infamous madman and conman, Doctor Reon World.
My platform this year is simple... Simpler than it's ever been before. I intend to push as hard as I possibly can for the destruction of the Underhusen.
Now I know, you might be asking yourself why... That doesn't make sense, Reon... But hear me out...
The Underhusen is entirely and totally useless. Literally the purpose of its existence is to further the existence of the Underhusen. The net gain happiness from the Underhusen is fairly minimal and the net gain unhappiness is extraordinary. The flaming, the fighting, the boredom, the incessant problems... And I plan to end all of this... All of it. It disgusts me and the work done there could be spent so much more beautifully elsewhere... Without so much destruction.
That simple. Vote for Reon for a less maddening Wintreath!

  • Fascinating...to play devil's advocate and learn more about your vision for the region...without the Underhusen, and with all other positions appointed in some way, how will the community feel empowered? What is your vision for the work being "spent so much more beautifully elsewhere"?

  • I'm not at all convinced that the UH's complete destruction will solve one problem without creating twenty new ones.

I think changing the purpose of the UH might be a better idea.

And also, just for interest's sake, I don't recall many actual flame-wars. I remember disagreeing with Chanku quite vocally, and while that was happening, I still felt that it was giving us balance, because the absolute last thing we need is a bunch of zombies who vote aye on everything.

I must say I was also expecting a campaign that was far less vague.

I would argue that the community could well be empowered by the work it does with itself... It's important to remember that all the Underhusen is, is just a weirdly agreed upon RP that all citizens are expected to participate in. Why can't the community be empowered by doing work in that community and seeing the strength and connection grow? And isn't that the point of Wintreath in the first place?

As for my vision spending it more beautifully elsewhere: Underhusen is an RP, rather a shit one that people feel obligated to attend, doesn't have very good rules, and has no real leader or head because we've done away with the need for that, apparently.
What if all the energy spent there was spent on actual RPs... Hell, you could even actually do a legislative RP that created legislation that didn't actually affect the region and the citizens in it and that would be fantastic!
I mean like in the time that it takes to put a serious effort into the Underhusen, Laurentus could've learned how to and made 100 graphics for the region, Chanku could've written like basically a whole book, maybe three... And Hannah could write just about a billion frozen realm records or other publications.
And any of them could've recruited thousands of new nations or worked better to improve that starting area or made more and more fantastic and close friends...
Instead all of them participated in this weird old guard type tradition thing where a bunch of mortals sit and bicker over laws that exist for the sake of law to exist in a system that exists solely to make sure those things happen...

In a perfect world I could dismantle the Underhusen and Overhusen and organize all the remaining people to redesign the constitution without those things, putting the power in the hands of the Monarch (and because Chanku gets on my ass every time I say just the Monarch also the Winter Nomad) fully with some citizen protecting agreements...
So basically what we have right now except that once every 100 years Wintermoot has to look over a referendum to have a citizen kicked or a trial for harassment...

I mean there has been a lot of talk for a while now about how Chanku kinda shits on other opinions not only from a factual or logical side but also from a rather personal side, using basic insult words on others...
As for changing the purpose... Well, I really just cannot think of a situation in which the Underhusen does not solely exist to push forward the existence of the Underhusen... You could think of this strategy however as repurposing those humans... A lot of our most active members spent a lot of their time and energy trying to manage and hold together the Underhusen... And as soon as they don't the Underhusen does not work and it's one guy shouting into a lonely room. I don't support that.

And yeah, I get not wanting voting zombies, you know that I do. But there have been many instances were there were infinitely better ways to lead that discourse...

I'd also like to thank you for your kind words to me in the election topic.

Not that novel... Maybe I just watch a lot of undercover cop movies! :P

And if nobody else likes it? Then I presume that they will not vote me in and if they do vote me in and don't want it then I expect that the other Skrifa will stop it...
I am only one man and while I do like to think of myself as a clever and quick witted man I am still only one man and I cannot do anything without power given to me by all the others...

  • I can see your points, you make your argument very well. And I get not wanting a government just for the sake of one, while I am not sure if I fully agree, I can definatly see where you are coming from. :D

Can I ask, we have seen your opinions on the Underhusen, and the Overhusen. But what do you think of the cabinet and that more monarchical branch of the government? :P The one that doesn't exist to make laws but to actually act as lead organisers of specific things?

Would possibly re-purposing the UH and OH into a role more like this be an option to you?

  • I appreciate the cabinet and leaders though it is sometimes hard to justify its purpose... As soon as someone shows serious effort and talent we induct them into the cabinet but I also appreciate having leaders to help new people and to be responsible for setting up new things...
As for repurposing the Underhusen into more of that kind of thing it's kind of a weird idea... Because we already have that... And it's the cabinet...
