Yeah, I've noticed that you tend to like it whenever I post older mainstream/popular music.
Which I tend to prefer not to do since those are the most recognizable ones for everyone but I still did it a few times (some Queen and Backstreet Boys for instance).
I'm curious, what makes you eschew newer music? (I personally hold that there is nothing inherently better or worse with older music, though of course it's going to be easier to find good old music because of what has stood the test of time and you have an established canon of what's good already.)
By "pop" I mean the loosely defined genre of music, different from rock and hip-hop, that tends to be on the charts often. Stealing from Wikipedia, it tends to have shorter length, simpler structure such as verse-chorus, etc. Not all pop music is hit radio music and not all hit radio music is pop music.
My preference tends to be more toward experimental, indie/alternative, and art pop. For instance, my latest post was from a PC Music & SOPHIE-produced album and features some interesting sounds. I have also posted several Carly Rae Jepsen pieces, who (apart from Call Me Maybe) could practically be considered an indie artist for how little commercial attention she gets despite critical acclaim. When I see the opportunity I also have been posting more obscure tracks from popular pop albums. (And of course there's that one LOTR song I posted which Robin responded to with the classic Misty Mountains song, but I recognize that that's an exception there.) In general I try to showcase songs that I feel get slept on, though it's not always easy and sometimes I'm lazy or feel like posting something more mainstream.
Anyway, for a bit of a change:
Nothing new, nothing new, nothing new, nothing new
Little less, little less, little less, little less
Nothing new, nothing new, nothing new, nothing new
Little less, little less, little less, little less
