  • I was just wondering if it would be possible to include the poster's local time as well as your own local time on each post. On the practicality side, it would be easier to coordinate events over multiple time zones. But on the interesting-y side, it would clarify just what time of day Jonewest was cross faded because I'm pretty sure he wasn't at 7 am this morning.

  • See up until you mentioned JW, I wasn't interested. This needs to happen... for science! ;)

A good idea, and it'd be useful for RP's as well for the GM to work out what time everyone is from just by looking at the post and not having to refer back to a master list or remember everyone's timezones. +1 support for this.

  • The only flaw is that you assume everyone has gone to their profile and set their timezone. I can assure you that is not the case. :P

  • * Denth Kasten is pretty sure there is a PHP function to collect the user's timezone.

  • You can look up the server's timezone with PHP, but not the client's.

  • That's not necessarily accurate, because the IP traces to the ISP server, not the home...it would probably fail for people close to timezone boundaries, or in countries/regions or using ISPs that use central servers for internet access.

If they didn't have a static IP they would be dynamic...which would give you an idea of the timezone they were in.

  • Not necessarily...for example, at various times just looking at my own connection it's been traced to three different cities within 100 miles of each other. My guess is that my ISP has connection points to the greater internet in those places.

  • It varies. It all depends on what ISP you have really. At any given time you can look at my IP and find out where I live. But that's my IP, they are a local ISP that piggybacks on the bigger networks.

    Anyways >.>
