  • Also, if I understood you correctly - "In my mind that is why abstain exist, so you may recluse yourself from voting in a situation where casting a vote would hinder or harbor ill will." You're saying you should use the Abstain when you don't want to vote because it might cause offense or put you at risk? Abstain exists so you can lodge your protest, or say you only think there are x number of viable candidates and no-one else is worth voting for, not so you can not vote because it's going to put you at risk. If that was the case, you don't vote or you vote privately, that's kind of the main thing about private voting. :)

    [me] grumbles*

    I disagree.

    Quote from: The Googles
    ab·stain
    abˈstān/Submit
    verb
    1.
restrain oneself from doing or enjoying something.
    "abstaining from chocolate"
"most pregnant women abstain or drink very little"
synonyms:   refrain from, desist from, hold back from, forbear; More
    antonyms:   indulge in, drink
    2.
formally decline to vote either for or against a proposal or motion.
"forty-one voted with the opposition, and some sixty more abstained"
synonyms:   not vote, decline to vote More

The reasons you refrain can, but don't necessarily, include; so you can lodge your protest, or say you only think there are x number of viable candidates and no-one else is worth voting for, and so you can not vote because it's going to put you at risk.

I don't like private voting. Hmph.

  • My point is more "If you don't want to be put at risk but you want to register your vote, you vote privately." If you actually want to cast your vote, you wouldn't want to abstain instead, hence private :)

  • I think it's peoples right to choose how they are voting, after all we are a democracy here...The last thing I want is to be told what to do...And apart from that, I don't see why we reject always every available possibility...And apart from that, Moot, we both agreed on IRC once that the previous elections, needed changes and adjustments.

    I don't understand why we don't make them.? :)
I understand that it might be a burden or people are busy, but I don't think we do have found yet the right way to elect the people of the goverment...It doesn't feel that way

  • The election process is fine. People can vote publicly or via PM. It is perfectly ok.
Now, can you please drop the subject, because this is frankly wasting everyone's time.

<@Vidarr> I hold onto the constant of change
    <+IH> How delightfully paradoxical.

<@IH> Omega also suits you, it’s the symbol for electrical resistance.
    <@Delta> Are you saying I'm slow? :P
<@IH> You were a component (see what I did there?) of the resistance in Wintreath, were you not?

  • Well thxs for the dislike...
And lol, I wasn't actually continuing the subject...I replied to the guys arguments on top...
And I spose, nobody asked you to reply, yes?

And apart from that I was talking to Moot first of all, and second of all, just because it feels right to you...doesn't mean that it should feel right to me as well...ya know? ;)  8)
