Because debates are fun, here we go again.

These first questions are pretty simple introductory questions that are simply meant to explore your thoughts behind running for election, if it hasn't already been addressed in the campaign topics...a little get to know the candidates session. As always, only myself as moderator and the candidates should post in this topic, but I'm happy to relay any legitimate questions that people have to the candidates. Also, candidates can question or debate each other at any point in this or any other debate topics...since that's kind of the point. Be civil and courteous, but don't hold back.

So without further ado...

1) Why exactly have you decided to run for the Underhusen? What do you hope to specifically accomplish in the next two months?

2) What do you feel was the biggest weakness of the Underhusen during the last term, and how do you plan on helping to overcome it this term?

3) If elected, do you plan on also running for the position of Speaker of the Underhusen? Why or why not?

4) In your opinion, what are the values and principles of the region, and how do you plan to uphold them in the Underhusen if elected?

5) As a candidate running for government office, will you volunteer to list your positions in any other regional government or organization? If so, what are they?

1) Why exactly have you decided to run for the Underhusen? What do you hope to specifically accomplish in the next two months?
Wintreath as a region has been all I've known on NationStates and frankly I see no reason to change that. I've really enjoyed my time here and I'm looking forward to spending a lot longer in this community. Because of this, I feel like I should give something back to the region, both culturally and 'politically'. Chanku's proposed a code of law, and whilst it serves as a great basis there are a few changes I'd like to make before it's introduced.

2) What do you feel was the biggest weakness of the Underhusen during the last term, and how do you plan on helping to overcome it this term?
Probably the inactivity. Ceardia hasn't been seen for a while, and a lot of the bills lay dormant for quite a long period of time before things were done to enact them. We've got a lot of new candidates standing this time around so hopefully that won't be a problem again, but I for one can say my activity is going to be much higher this term.

3) If elected, do you plan on also running for the position of Speaker of the Underhusen? Why or why not?
As much as I'd love to be doing more, I feel my qualities are best expressed through lawmaking, rather than the administrative side of the legislature - so no

4) In your opinion, what are the values and principles of the region, and how do you plan to uphold them in the Underhusen if elected?
Personally, I feel the values and principles of the region are simple: friendship, fun and faith. Not in the religious sense of the word, but faith in each other - we're a strong community and I feel that's what we should focus on above other concerns (within reason): as we grow, there's always the risk of losing the tight bond we have, and I'd like to try and preserve that as much as possible. There's not much from a law-making side that can be done on that front, in all honesty.

What can be done, however, is provide the opportunities for new members to get involved. Again, a lot of this is going to fall to Mootles and the Riksråd, but I've a few ideas.

5) As a candidate running for government office, will you volunteer to list your positions in any other regional government or organization? If so, what are they?
Wintreath is, and will continue to be, the only region I'm involved in

1) Why exactly have you decided to run for the Underhusen? What do you hope to specifically accomplish in the next two months?
I hope to develop an effective justice system for Wintreath, something other than Wintermmot's almighty decision.
2) What do you feel was the biggest weakness of the Underhusen during the last term, and how do you plan on helping to overcome it this term?
I think activity was the UH's biggest issue last term, I will work to be as active as possible, which is easy seeing as I'm home all day.
3) If elected, do you plan on also running for the position of Speaker of the Underhusen? Why or why not?
No, I don't think I'll have time to do all the things the speaker does, maybe next time.
4) In your opinion, what are the values and principles of the region, and how do you plan to uphold them in the Underhusen if elected? The values and principles of this region are to create a strong government, but also a friendly place for people of all types to gather. is that right? maybe I misunderstood.

5) As a candidate running for government office, will you volunteer to list your positions in any other regional government or organization? If so, what are they? Hmmm

I think I have answered a number of these questions. I hope everyone reads my campaign thread and my responses to questions in that thread.

I will be looking to run for the Speaker of the Underhusen as it is an important position in Wintreath and I believe I can do that job successfully with a lot of enthusiasm.

Furthermore I will look to do other important roles in the region as well as serve in the Underhusen in order to maintain strong activity levels in Wintreath, improving the region's mechanics moving forward. For example, in my campaign I have talked about the need for a mentor scheme to be introduced. I will be looking to work with Jarl Vidarr in this area.

Could we possibly have a debate with a chance for every candidate to post in? For example on a certain issue? 

Is there a particular issue you'd like to bring up?

1) Why exactly have you decided to run for the Underhusen? What do you hope to specifically accomplish in the next two months?

Well there are several reasons, one of them being I enjoy being in the Underhusen, the other being that I'm not finished yet. Also My hopes for the next two months are simply to work on amendments to the Fundamental Laws and passing a code of laws(if the one at the table is rejected).

2) What do you feel was the biggest weakness of the Underhusen during the last term, and how do you plan on helping to overcome it this term?

Well it was inactivity that mainly killed us, and hopefully we won't get a majority of the Underhusen inactive.

3) If elected, do you plan on also running for the position of Speaker of the Underhusen? Why or why not?

Yes, because I was the Speaker of the Underhusen last term, so I feel I know the position a bit better. Plus it's a competition thing as well.

4) In your opinion, what are the values and principles of the region, and how do you plan to uphold them in the Underhusen if elected?

To be honest I haven't thought about this as much, so I don't have a stance on this at this time, other then us being defender and open for most, if not all, members.

  1A)Politics and political activities have sparked an unforeseen interest. This became one of my reasons to run for Underhusen.I've had my share of political activities around Wintreath.

  1B) Passing reasonable and lawful laws and trying to maintain a stable activity in the Underhusen, creating an aura of dignity and devotion.

2) What do you feel was the biggest weakness of the Underhusen during the last term, and how do you plan on helping to overcome it this term?

  2A)Inactivity. With Ceardia being gone and laws being slowly created. The Underhusen's problem was lack of activity.

3) If elected, do you plan on also running for the position of Speaker of the Underhusen? Why or why not?

  3A) I plan on also running for Speaker of the Underhusen as, according to my real friends, I'm a great leader and friend.

4) In your opinion, what are the values and principles of the region, and how do you plan to uphold them in the Underhusen if elected?

  4A) Wintreath's values are important. Our citizens, Monarch, Jarls, Thanes are what keep us together and they become one to keep Wintreath one of the best regions in NS.

I wanted to run for the lower chamber because I can see problems with the way our government operates, especially in the legislative branch, and I feel not only responsible for the faults (as a founding member of the region) but well-equipped with the ideas and experience to fix them.

I don't feel especially qualified to answer this question, but I can pledge to bring activity to the chamber, something which I know was lacking at least briefly during the mid-term.

Heavens no. Can you imagine me doing a thing so frightfully dull?

4) In your opinion, what are the values and principles of the region, and how do you plan to uphold them in the Underhusen if elected?

I think the most important feature of our region is our emphasis on community and camaraderie. I'm not going to lie to you though, I really don't think I can implement this into legislation. It's really an odd question.[/quote]

I was formerly a shit load of stuff in a shit load of places. Nothing else at the moment though.

Is there a particular issue you'd like to bring up?

What about the vision the candidates have for the region? How will it evolve, where can it end up?

I have no vision, and I despair at being in the company of anyone in this election that claims to. You don't run for Underhusen to change the face of the region, you work in the executive to do that.

I have no vision for Wintreath. Visions are such are the prerogative of the executive. What I have are several policies which I should like to implement because I ultimately believe it to be for the best of the region. If you (directed at nobody specific) don't have that, and are instead making the dubious pledge of a more active or prosperous region I hesitate to think how someone could possibly vote for you.
