It appears that due to the current level of activity and viable candidates the elections for the Underhusen will largely be uncontested.

This is a bad situtation for promoting activity on the forum and for Wintreath as a whole.

This was arguably caused by the Underhusen voting to have seven members of the Underhusen the next cycle. This was a mistake.

I am aware that the bill has passed the Underhusen and the Overhusen I believe declaring that there will be seven seats in the Underhusen after elections.

However this, in the interests of activity and the ability to have a contested election, should be reduced to five. This should be done by the Monarch himself or an emergency repeal or resolution by the legislature. An uncontested or barely contested election would be poor.

I hope the powers that be would consider doing this in the interests of the region.

The initial hope was that with the influx of several new and active members we'd be able to fill the 7 seats easily, and that would hopefully incite further activity in the region as a whole - in addition, more legislators means more room to get things right first time and for discussion.

However, I do find myself in agreement. Whilst I'd like to push for more people to move over from the RMB on NS to here, we may have jumped the gun a little with the 7 seats.

So... What's the proposed number of seats?

I don't believe I have any authority to modify a bill that was legally passed...technically I have the ability through decree, but that opens a huge can of worms I don't really want to open. If it's such a problem, I feel the best course of action is for the Underhusen to reconsider or amend the original bill.

However, we're still very early in the nomination process...we could still pick up more people as the week goes by. All may not be lost yet.

I think we wait a day or two before we make any changes to the Seating. This gives opportunity for more candidates and still leaves us with time to change it if necessary.

Either way, I'd agree with Stark here. Even if the race grows, it will still be a fairly stagnant election. Lowering the amount of seats would definitely make the elections more interesting and more hotly contested.

Even if we get more candidates, they may just be active members who already hold a number of positions just to make up the numbers and that would not be good for the region either.
