  • We shall eventually!  In fact, that's part of what this thread aims to figure out... or not figure out, to leave it to the IC new crew and ship :P

  • Well, I've never been much of an RPer, but I've been meaning to start getting into RP. I've looked up some basic RP 101 stuff, and I hope I'm not too terrible at it. I guess this could be a start for me. The hardest part for me is coming up with a good character in the first place.

And will rules and guidelines be posted when this starts? Or are the rules something this thread is intended to decide?

There are plenty of people here in the Guild who can guide you in the creation of a character. You need only ask. :D

I believe this thread is intended to be an open discussion for everyone to talk about every aspect of this potential roleplay. BraveSirRobin will have to clarify on that though.

    • To sit back hoping that someday, some way, someone will make things right is to go on feeding the crocodile, hoping he will eat you last - but eat you he will.

Hes a robot. So long as there are replacement parts, he'll be there.

He must first have survived the event that killed the first voyage then found a way back for the repairs.

  • Who said that there was something that killed the first journey? Besides, its a clever robot. Maybe it even uploaded its mind into a new body.

  • Well, it seems to me like we have 3 choices for what happened to the last expedition:
    1. The last ship and crew lost all contact with Wintreath-controlled space and are presumed dead. Cue conspiracy theories on what happened to them. The next generation's mission could be to explore again and try to find the last ship and crew if possible.
    2. The last expedition ended in failure with the ship irreparably damaged/destroyed but some of the crew saved (possibly by TNG?) using an emergency beacon, either from an escape pod, the wreckage of the ship, stuck on a planet, etc. TNG's mission could just be to explore past where the last expedition ended (and possibly save the survivors of the old crew and find out what happened). If TNG saves the old crew, then we decide what happened: hostile species, disease from planet/new species, asteroid field crash/space anomaly disaster, mutiny, etc.
    3. The last expedition ended in success with knowledge of habitable planets and possibly new species (or even some inter-species government -- Mass Effect's Citadel/Council, anyone? -- depending on how sci-fi we want to go). Depending on how far in the future from the last expedition, Wintreath could have expanded its control of space, and TNG's mission is to continue to explore to find more planets (or perform some mission for the inter-species government).

    Thoughts or other ideas?

Hmm, the first two options kinda remind me of a story I've been following over on /r/HFY, Missing in Action. Would certainly be interesting, and would (the second option especially) provide some plot direction.
