Hello , I came here searching for a forum to go to after the Hogwarts NS forum died off. I don't know yet what I want to do here, but I'm interested in the government aspect of the forums. I'm currently reading through the government page and some of the laws to see what it's like.

I was wondering if anyone could help me navigate the forum and understand what kind of stuff we do here?

While I'm waiting for someone to reply, I'll share a little about myself.

As you could probably tell from my name, I love math . It's the greatest idea ever conceived. I also am pedantic(probably too pedantic). Sometimes, in the chat, I find myself accidentally talking in complete sentences, which isn't necessary for live chats. People call me the grammar police sometimes.

I also love Harry Potter, as you could probably tell from my involvement in the Hogwarts NS forum I Spoke of. The only series that can compare to HP is The Secret Series.

I've been in NationStates for a while now, but I'm not exactly sure how long. I don't visit it too often and I don't answer too many issues. My nation in this region is Mathyland puppet, as my main nation is Mathyland. As I said before, I was in the Hogwarts region and their forum, but both died off suddenly. I joined Wintreath because I wanted to find a good forum to join. I find the government of the forum interesting and I would like to look into being a part of it. I'll try to be active on the forum. Right now, I'm still trying to figure out what we do here and where everything is. I'm not sure where I'm going to make my 5 posts required for citizenship.

I am in Hufflepuff, but mostly because we have house points, and Hufflepuff had the second highest amount of them. I didn't want to be in Gryffindor or Ravenclaw because they basically had no chance to win, and I didn't want to be in Slytherin because they had the most points. I wanted to be in the middle and try to earn a win for our team. Hufflepuff ended up winning, so I guess I was successful.

I also didn't remember the traits of each house, so I just decided based on house points alone.

You missed a space there.

I'm on tau's side, probably because of Vi Hart's videos. Why have 2pi radians in a circle when you can just have tau radians in a circle? It makes much more sense. You could also have tau*r instead of 2pi*r.

As for the second part of your post, can the grammar police arrest themselves? Because (and I'm pretty sure you can have because at the beginning of a sentence) I might have to do that.

In fairness, now seems to be an inactive time for NationStates all around, so hopefully Hogwarts revives along with everything else in the game. I'd hate to see it die...it's a true defender success story. But it's good to meet you! Out of curiosity, what did you do in Hogwarts? Maybe it'll translate to something here.

We kind of did whatever we wanted, even if it didn't have to do with Harry Potter, but we generally stuck with the HP theme. We had a spam area for small games and spam games. We had an RP section with RP classrooms, student profiles, character RP, and Quidditch. We had a place for larger games such as a mafia variant and other games of that size. We also had a welcoming section as well as a discussion section. We had a section with common rooms for each house that only the members of that house could talk in or see. We had a small embassy section and a place for announcements by the Headmaster.

That's the great thing about theme regions...it's easy to pull things out of the theme and adopt them to a forum, where things like RP classrooms and student profiles wouldn't really make sense here.

What sort of things do you like doing in a region/forum, though?

I enjoyed the games and RP. I spent most of my time in the Spam Area.

In this forum, I found the government aspect interesting, so I may have to run for a government position. I read the Constitution and I can see the resemblances to the US one. I was almost WA Delegate in Hogwarts, and I would have won the election if more people voted, but most didn't. Even my opponent admitted that I would have won if more people voted. He suggested we work together, so I guess I was co-Delegate. He said he's leaving now because of the inactivity, so I might become Delegate then; my puppet nation in that region is my WA one. At this point, I just want to become Delegate of that region so I can say I have experience being one.
