I think what we should do, is have Map 3 on as the top, or the North pole, the Current map in the middle (removing the ice) and the 6th map as the bottom, as the South pole area.

  • I've got another kind of map that is currently in the works. Going to put some final polishes on it and post it in a couple of hours. Just a heads up.
    there will be something here...soon...

  • So later today when I have access to my laptop, I will attempt to copy some parts of map 3 onto the current map using Photoshop as North suggested.

Zemas, I don't quite understand what you mean as the poles are just sheets of ice.

And Lychgate, do you mean a possible map for this rp?

Side note: something I think people should realize -- looking back at the claims map before we restarted -- is that most nations need to be smaller in area. This will allow more nations to fit on the map, plus it's more realistic (just look at a map of Earth). I'm not saying we all need to take just small areas (a few large countries would definitely make sense), but we should just make sure there's plenty of room for everybody, including possible new people to join.

One way I've seen other regions make this easier is to chop the landmass into small chunks (or tiles) using borders, then each nation is allowed to claim so many tiles. They don't have to be equal amounts -- the number of tiles each nation gets could be determined by different factors. For example: base tile (1) + size of nation (small (1) to large (7)) + population (small (1) to large (4) + random (-2 to 5). This could give a nice range of nation sizes. The initial choices of tiles could be that each person chooses one tile (just to establish roughly where our nations start), then we can either claim the rest of our tiles (first come, first served) or take turns choosing the rest of our tiles. This would allow nations to grow or shrink in the roleplay easily by gaining or losing tiles -- either through war, trade, establishment of new nations, etc.

Or we could just go with how we did the last claims map. :P

The thing is about my nation, is that 3 empires united into one under Emperor Zemas the Great and Autocrat of All the Acarias.

Also, my nation is heavily inspired by the Three Romes (Rome,Byzantium,Russian Empire)

What I mean is that map 3 looks like would be the northern part of the world, and map 6 looks like the southern part of the world, due to land being connected to the ice.

  • So I ended up getting busy this evening, but I'll get on this tomorrow morning and probably make a couple different versions combining the maps differently (including maps 3 and 6 just for you, Gov :P).

And I get what you're saying now, Zemas. Also, as to your nation's size, yours would be one of the few larger nations, so that's understandable.

  • Alright, so I tried to make a couple different versions:
    maps
    Map A: Gov's 3+6
    Map B: 3+current+6
    Map C: current+parts of 3
    Map D: current+parts of 3/6
-Map A fit together alright, but there's not much land in it.
-Map B fit weird since the current map was a different aspect ratio to the other two, plus it was three worlds put on top of each other, so it looks kinda squished, but not bad overall. (I can try a bit harder to get rid of the obvious lines in the oceans if we decide to go with this and you want me to.)
-Map C obviously had no problems with fitting since I copied bits of Map 3 onto the current map. I tried to add the lands near the poles from Map 3, and I think they look alright. Overall it adds more land for nations, which is good, but it removes the current map's ocean.
-Map D added bits of Map 6 onto Map C. It looks a little bit cluttered, but it adds more land and islands, which, again, is always good.

Let me know what you guys think. Do any of these seem ok, or should we go in another direction?

P.S. Here is the tiles idea I was talking about. Keep in mind I did this little bit in just a couple minutes, so if we actually decided to go with this, I would redo it and actually take the time to make it look really nice. But this will give you a general idea of what I was talking about. On this map, the smallest nation could be like 3 tiles (call them provinces/states/territories/districts/regions/whatever) and the largest could be like 20, but I'd think the majority of nations would probably be closer to 6-12 tiles.
