What about putting The Roleplayer's Gathering as a child board of The RP Guild?

That would be a subforum of a subforum...there are problems with doing that in SMF, besides the fact that you wouldn't be able to directly access the sub-sub forum directly from the main forum page.

I think what Sapph means is making the RP Guild a proper division of the forum, like the Civil Service, and then having the RPer's Gathering as a sub-forum of the RP Guild.

But I have another idea. I think it might be more organised to have a sub-forum for every individual RP, within the greater RP Guild. I don't anticipate people coming up with as many RPs in the future as they're coming up with now.

For now at least, I'd like to keep the current setup and see how it goes as more roleplays are added. I suppose that the RP Guild could be considered roleplay discussion in general, but it's still a little different from the roleplays themselves.

As more roleplays are added and guilds in general roll out, we'll re-evaluate.

Also, I'm not sure I follow the logic here. The serious RPs being proposed in the Guild end up becoming the RPs in the Gathering. We even require people to sign up in the guild before they can join an RP. Why, then, does The RP Guild =/= The RP Gathering?

I wasn't aware that we were requiring people to join the guild before they could participate in RPs. I thought you had said you would not be requiring people to when we discussed this in the Riksråd.

While the RP guild interacts with the RP community in leading, encouraging, and supporting endeavors in that area, it is still essentially a government body along with the mentoring guild. At the very least during the pilot phase it makes sense to keep them in the government area. The RPs themselves are a part of regional culture, so it makes sense for them to be in the cultural area.

I get the feeling that we may not be on the same page on how the RP guild relates to the actual RPs. If this is the case, it may be beneficial to discuss this further in the Riksråd chambers.

Gamemaster Group

The old game master group from the original rendition of the Roleplayers' Gathering has been revived. This will allow the game master of a particular RP certain moderation powers over topics that they created, such as the ability to edit and delete posts and lock their topics. This masking has already been applied to @Commander_Zemas and will be applied to the game masters of future RPs.

The head of the RP guild has been granted moderation authority over the RP forum, in addition to the Jarl and Thane of Culture.

Moar Recruitment Upgrades

The recruiter system now records the person that recruited to each nation, the last known region of the nation, and whether they were ever in Wintreath. The purpose for these changes will be made clear in the next few days. :p

Clean URLs and Topic Collections

Today is my first official day of vacation from work, and I used it to start working on something I've had in mind for a few months. Even though it's been our official policy to keep down the number of subforums, I get requests for them often, and sometimes I'll make an exception, but usually it's for things that don't justify having their own forum or subforum. But...what if you could create areas dedicated to different things and attach forum topics to them? This is what I'm working on.

Notice that this link looks different than usual site links...since these areas will not be on the main forum page, I wanted to make it so that they were easy to remember, so I utilized clean URLs, a relatively new practice of making more human-friendly (and search engine-friendly) URLs. Further Topic Collections Work and Roleplay Reorganization

I have coded in the ability for area curators to attach and remove topics from their collections. At the top and bottom of each topic page is the new ATTACH link (beside REPLY). Clicking it will allow you to select the collection that you want to add it to and from there it'll be attached. Unattaching is done via the collection page, but that option is only seen by curators. This means nothing to most of you at the moment, but the next update will include the ability to actually create collections and start messing with them.

I have also reorganized the roleplay area after seeking advice from Laurentus...all the roleplay stuff is now in one area.
