Section I: Basic Information
1) Please introduce yourself to us! What led you here, what are your interests, and what are your hopes as a Citizen of our community? Feel free to include anything else you'd like us to know.
 
Hi, my name is Kora, and my pronouns are she/her. I'm certified by the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy as a jail officer, and hold FEMA certifications IS-700.B, IS-100.C, and IS-200.C! (Do keep in mind: this does not mean I'm working as a jail/corrections officer anywhere, or have gone through full law enforcement training! I've only gotten the certifications.)

As for what led me here, your telegram in NationStates was of particular interest to me.

I'm interesting in gaming, military strategy, law, and aviation, among other things! (it'd honestly take way too long to list all of my interests, lol)

I hope to be a part of this community (despite what will inevitably be my initial lack of presence) and meet new people!

3) How did you discover Wintreath?

I saw the telegram in my NS inbox, and Wintreath piqued my interest!

Greetings @KoraTheHazard! That sounds very impressive...out of curiosity, what made you decide to go through the training and I assume eventually go into law enforcement? It seems like such a contentious area politically these days. It's just always interesting to see what makes people decide on things that aren't exactly the easy path, you know?

Two new things now that you're a Citizen:

1) You should be able to see the #governance channel on Discord. This is where we discuss community governance, both IC and OOC.

2) You can now join hangouts, which are private Discord channels for portions of our community so they can freely talk about things. We currently have hangouts for the LGBTQ+ and furry communities...if you're involved in either and would like to join, just DM or ping a Discord op (currently myself, Michi, or Wuufu) and let us know.

Hello! Thank you for approving my application, and sorry for the late response here.

As to answer your question, I decided to go through training after getting the opportunity through a local career center to speak to multiple LEOs, including a former sheriff and even some federal officers! It was honestly a career path I wouldn't have expected to be interested in even just a couple years ago, but here I am now. However, law enforcement's not the only path I'm considering, as I've also started looking into the aviation industry!

That's awesome! I imagine getting to talk to actual people doing the job and getting a feel for it really helps...there weren't many opportunities like that for me, so I ended up just lucking into what I do more or less.

I watch a lot of Mayday: Air Disaster, not so much because I'm into aviation but because I'm into the problem solving and investigation aspect. Planes are so safe these days that usually when one crashes it's because of a number of problems that come together in just the right way, so it's fascinating to watch how they uncover all the factors that led to it.
