Welcome to the public/announcement page of the Free Gaming Club! This is like a book club, except our group tries out a different free game every month and chats about their experiences with each other. If games are multiplayer and there's time/interest, there may be gaming nights for our chosen game, too!

How It Works

Game Selection
During the first week of each month, a randomly selected member will pick the free game our club will try out for that month. Games must be free for the entire month so that members can pick it up at any point that works best for them. Then we spend the rest of the month trying it out and chatting about our experiences. Members should be able to dedicate at least several hours during the month to try out the game, long enough to at least decide if you like the game or not and be able to discuss it.

Game Discussion
On Fridays, pings will go out to club members in the Discord #gaming channel to discuss that month's game if they would like. Of course, anyone is free to talk about it at any time in any relevant channel (as well as the forums and the NationStates RMB). The pings are just meant to be reminders for anybody that would like to chat about the game.

Membership
You don't have to join the club to play or discuss free games. Becoming a member is just stating your commitment to try out each game, and adds you to the list of people who could be selected to pick each month's game. Membership is open to anyone with a forum account, a Discord account on the Wintreath server, or a nation in Wintreath's NationStates region. To become a member, just post here or contact Wintermoot on Discord or the NationStates RMB. Members who have not been involved with the club or its selected games in the last several months may be removed from the roster, in order to focus on currently active members.

July Game of the Month: Celeste 64

According to the game page, Celeste 64 is a 3D platformer put together in about a week to celebrate the 6th anniversary of the game Celeste (which happens to be on sale on Steam for $1.99 right now). Beyond that, it's snowing in the screenshot on the game page, so that alone makes it a promising pick!

August Game of the Month: The WereCleaner

"Kyle is a Janitor. He's also a Werewolf. And now he's got the night shift. Try not to kill anyone while working to get your paycheck - in a stealth-comedy game with surprises around every corner.". According to Sindowne, it "is, in fact, fucking awesome" and takes maybe an hour at most to play through.
