Welcome to This Week in WintreathIt's hard to believe it's already September, but here we are! As many of you know, Wintreath spent the spring and summer focused on issues such as rules, moderation, and community leadership in response to long-running problems that culminated in a community split back in February. At the time, I vowed that we would do better, both myself personally and Wintreath as an organization, and we've taken many steps to become a community that's better for everybody that's a part of it. That includes new, more specific rules and more transparent moderation policies, a written moderation grievance process, tackling a leadership culture that encouraged an us vs them mentality, and more. Our efforts will be detailed in an upcoming community update, which I hope will be out soon.
But now I'm excited to see what autumn brings us, and we're starting by touching base with the community through a survey. How are you feeling about Wintreath right now? How are we doing on different things? Is Wintreath the type of community you feel comfortable being a part of? Where do you want to see Wintreath go in the future? Autumn brings the annual Z-Day event around Halloween, which is a regional favourite. It'll also marks a very special occasion: Wintreath's 10th birthday on October 17th! But one thing at a time...just know that autumn in Wintreath will be not be a slow one!
The Summary: September 4th, 2023- We're touching base with the community to get your thoughts on where Wintreath is right now as a community: what's working, what's not working, what how people feel about the community.
