As you probably already know, Svipjoth has stepped down as Chancellor.

However, when I went to review the procedural rules for what needs to be done, I realized that there are none. There's no procedure for filling the vacancy created when a Chancellor steps down. This obviously needs to be rectified before we can select a new Chancellor.

I believe even without a Chancellor, it's within the Landsraad's ability to discuss and decide what it'd like to do. There's already an effort to update the procedural rules, so maybe this can be included in that, but I just wanted to alert you guys to the problem.

Well, in the proposed rules I wrote, the Vice Chancellor would step in and complete the rest of the Chancellor's term. I realize that, as the Vice Chancellor, I am a tad biased, but I think that should probably be what happens now. But that's just my suggestion.

Yeah, with only three month terms I'm fine with the Vice Chancellor stepping up as long as they have the Monarch's blessing.

Seeing as you wrote the rules, I think especially in this case that we should follow them.

I’d support this course of action 

I mean, I always assumed it worked essentially the same as the presidency to where if the president stepped down, died, or was impeached, the VP would take over presidency till the end of the term unless they themselves were somehow involved and under investigation.

But I guess that just needs to be codified, since that should be a basic provision for any vice role.

That would wait until the next scheduled election unless Mars appoints someone in the interim.

I don't believe that has been precedent in Wintreath's past, so I didn't want to assume that we weren't going to have an election. As @Michi mentioned, this should be codified as soon as possible, but I've made the change to the government list.

I'm hoping this is a joke, but even then I don't think it's in good taste, especially in a government forum.

I would prefer fresh elections myself, considering that it's literally the only elected position in the legislature.
