Wintreath Thane Elections
Nominate and Stand for Election!

Members of the Landsraad (all Citizens): In this topic you may stand or nominate someone else to stand for election for one of these thane positions in the Ministries of Culture, Foreign Affairs, and Regional Affairs! Only Citizens can be nominated for or stand for elections. Once you have stood for election, you must create a campaign topic before Tuesday, March 1st that at a minimum provides the following information:

1) Why are you running for this position?
2) What do you aim to accomplish as thane? As part of this, you must include at least one thing that you promise to do beyond the minimum listed duties of the position during your term. It should be measurable, so that it's black and white whether you fulfilled this mandate at the end of the term if you are elected.
2a) If you are an incumbent running for re-election, did you fulfill your mandate from the last election? If not, why didn't you?
3) What qualifications or experience do you have in the area that you are running in?
4) How do you plan to have the time to fulfill the duties of the position until the next election?
5) Are you currently a part of any other NationStates regional or organizational government? If so, please include those regions and positions.

Once your campaign is posted, I or the Jarl over the position reserves the right to reject your candidacy based on your fit within the current Cabinet or regional security concerns (candidacies no longer explicitly require approval). Please be aware that serving on the Cabinet requires that you be on the Discord server under an account linked to your forum profile. If you're on the server and your name is not white, you're probably good to go. Candidates that don't meet this requirement at the end of nominations will be invalidated.

The list of positions open are below:

Ministry of Culture, led by Michi

Thane of Roleplay (voted on by all Citizens):

• Represent the roleplay community in the Riksrad and regularly take part in Cabinet meetings and discussions;
• Manage and moderate the forums in the Roleplayers' Gathering;
• Encourage roleplay and facilitate its growth in the region;
• Serve as the Patriarch of the RP Guild;
• Work with the Council to manage the RP Guild and its roleplays by helping members start up and host roleplays, helping find a new host for a roleplay if the host goes inactive, and helping decide whether to reboot or archive inactive roleplays;
• Welcome new citizens who may interested in roleplay, introduce them to the RP Guild and the Roleplayers' Gathering, accept new members into the RP Guild, and help out beginners with roleplaying;
• Other duties determined by the RP Guild.

Thane of Gaming (voted on by all Citizens):

• Represent the gaming community in the Riksrad and regularly take part in Cabinet meetings and discussions;
• Manage and moderate the "Gaming Lounge" forum;
• Facilitate the growth of the gaming community in the region;
• Promote playing non-forum multiplayer games together as a region (such as Minecraft, Civilization, Town of Salem, Paradox games, and MMOs);
• Welcome new citizens who may be interested in gaming and help them to join regional games;
• Must set up at least one regional game night per month during its term.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs, led by Ruguo

Thane of Foreign Releases (voted on by all Citizens)

• The Department of Foreign Releases is tasked with compiling, organizing, and releasing Wintreath's Monthly Foreign Dispatch, aiding in the improvement of activity within our Diplomatic Missions, and assist in the advertisement of regional events and activies abroad. Additionally, it is also tasked with reviewing Foreign Publications pursuant to Section 3 of Decree 006 for approval.

Thane of Embassies (voted on by all Citizens)

• The Department of Embassies is tasked with managing and maintaing our Diplomatic Officer and Mission Programme to other regions and organizations within NationStates.
• The Diplomatic Officer Programme, as ran under this ministry, is to rank each Diplomatic Officer with a general ranking, which the gaining of higher ranks includes privileges and other incentives for the performance of Ambassadorial duties. The exact specifics of this organization are left to the Thane of Diplomatic Officers and Missions.
• The Department of Embassies is also tasked with: scouting out and finding new and promising regions to reach out to and form relations with, aiding the planning and implementation of cross-regional events, and to extend help to regions that might desire aid from Wintreath in certain manners.

Ministry of Regional Affairs, led by Dawsinian

Thane of Regional Affairs (voted on by all Citizens)

• Duties as assigned by the Jarl of Regional Affairs

Thane of World Assembly Affairs (voted on by Citizens with a NationStates nation in Wintreath, candidates must have a NationStates nation in Wintreath)

• Determine votes on World Assembly proposals or determine systems to determine their vote
• Ensure that their NationStates nation has the highest number of endorsements possible, at least the highest number in the region.
• Represent Wintreath in communications regarding the World Assembly.

Voting will begin on Tuesday, March 1st.

They’ve both done such a great job these last few months 

I will stand for Thane of Regional Affairs.

1) I am running for re-election as Thane of Regional Affairs to continue doing what I've done since december; Moderate the forums to ensure wintreath stays a welcoming and safe space for everyone, as well as continue to work with @Svipjoth to modernize and overhaul the defunct RP Guild (Assuming she gets re-elected as Thane of Role-play)

2)  As stated in question 1, in addition to my normal duties and work towards keeping the region's secure as an open and accepting space, I will work with Svipjoth to help overhaul regional role play.

2a) I did and did not quite achieve my goals last term. As Thane I moderated the board and suppressed multiple posts. I also ejected a few troll nations as well as ejecting a nation openly emulating Nazi Germany who had been residing i the outskirts of activity in the region. On the Overhaul of the RP Guild significant progress was, including the plans of overhauling and the blue print to replace the old guild (Svipjoth is great at that sort of thing). However this took time, and hopefully in the next term we can begin to implement these changes with support from the community and the rest of the government.

3) As the Incumbent for this Thaneship, I've spent the last 3 months learning what it means to be a Wintreath Government official, and have shown that I can handle the responsibilities that come with it.

4) I will have time to fulfill my role thanks to a mix of my unorthodox work schedule and severe insomnia.

5) I am the current Thane of Regional Affair, Wintreath.

I’m re-running to continue what I started last month. Just less complicated than

Open a embassy with Eurth (not R/D), open at least one more embassy with a region, and continue the closure of embassies we think should be closed
2a) If you are an incumbent running for re-election, did you fulfill your mandate from the last election? If not, why didn't you?
I tried to get 5 embassies open. Not surprisingly, it didn’t work.
3) What qualifications or experience do you have in the area that you are running in?
I’ve ran my own region before and was Thane last month
4) How do you plan to have the time to fulfill the duties of the position until the next election?
No sleep and grind. But seriously, I’ll just put more time into embassies

Obviously I'll stand for WA Affairs again.

1) Why are you running for this position?

Because I've overall enjoyed the position since I first ran.  As much as I normally am not a fan of getting too much into the NS mechanics area, WA is really the only area I'm alright with.  I enjoy popping in the NS forums and engaging when needed there, I enjoy sharing recommendations in the RMB and getting folks more involved, and overall I just enjoy doing it.

It should be measurable, so that it's black and white whether you fulfilled this mandate at the end of the term if you are elected.
2a) If you are an incumbent running for re-election, did you fulfill your mandate from the last election? If not, why didn't you?

In ways, yes.  I've still done recommendations for bills, though I could definitely push more of the GA ones that I promised to do in the last term...but at the same time with RPs being a consistent thing on the RMB I also don't want to push it too much since Icebreakers/Bonfires already occasionally break those up a bit.

But the long-term goal of getting folks interested has technically continued to be fulfilled since endorsement count has continued to remain steady at 68 even with nations CTEing or leaving the region and new folks taking their place.  Likewise, I continue to follow what the majority of folks vote unless there's specific reasoning otherwise (hence those recommendations).

So there's always more that I can do, but I think I've overall fulfilled my mandate from last election, and any goals this term are going to mostly echo those since it's not an area where there's always large innovations (and if they are, it's usually a surprise like a WA channel in Discord if there's enough interest).

3) What qualifications or experience do you have in the area that you are running in?

Current Delegate, going into my 3rd term.  Previously was Jarl of Foreign Affairs, had a stint as Thane of Embassies, had a stint as an Ambassador in both Wintreath as well as 10KI previously, have had experience on the usually interesting NS forums where most WA proposals get discussed, that kind of stuff.

4) How do you plan to have the time to fulfill the duties of the position until the next election?

I literally have nothing but time, much like I did last term.  I have my duties as Jarl of Culture too, but they're easy to juggle alongside this.

5) Are you currently a part of any other NationStates regional or organizational government? If so, please include those regions and positions.

Currently no.

• I am running for re-election so that I may continue my current project to revitalize the RP guild and bring structure to OOC environments. 
• As stated in my answer to question one, I want to continue leading the development of a new, revitalized RP guild. I also wish to work with the Jarl of Culture so that the responsibilities of the Thane of Roleplay are reflective of the new RP guild. I also wish to work with the cabinet to continue pursuing and enforcing roleplay etiquette.

    2a. I did not fulfill my mandate due to unforeseen bureaucratic hesitations and concerns pertaining to how the new RP guild should be implemented. However, the development of this guild is complete, and I pushed hard for a RP etiquette enforcement system that is being implemented as of now, so my term will not end with complete lack of success.
    3. My first term as Thane of Roleplay has taught me much in the way of general Wintreath government structure. If I am reelected, I will be entering the Spring term with a deeper sense of my role as a leader in roleplay and how to go about legislating new or modified acts.
    4. As I did before, balancing this position with college and work.
    5. Other than my current position as Thane of Roleplay, no.
