This is my result. I don't consider it surprising at all, since I think 8values (or any such test really) is not that good at capturing anybody's opinion besides very oversimplified catch-all ideologies. I took a leftvalues to top it off a bit and this is my result.

My results have all tempered a bit since last time (by 2-6 points across the board). But yeah I think it might just be how I interpreted the questions at different times.

I kid, I kid...I see these quizzes kind of like astrology, they're fun to do and compare with each other, see how it labels us, but it's not anything I'd view as authoritative. I don't look at this and say 'oh no I'm so many points more traditional, I must be becoming right-wing' lol.

That being said, it is interesting to see how the community at large has trended over the years. Since 2017 the makeup of the community has changed a lot over time, but we've consistently trended more toward equality, world, liberty, and progress. Is that something specific to Wintreath, perhaps because we advertise ourselves as a LGBTQ+ community and are thus more likely to attract people that believe in those things? Or is it a global thing, perhaps because new generations trend that way?

The only stand-out change from 2022 is I shifted a bit further toward tradition. I don't even think my actual stances have changed, but I think I interpret tradition in general differently than I did. I always had a tendency to view tradition as backwards (easy to do when the other side is literally named progress lol), but I've come to realize that respecting traditions doesn't have to mean being a hinderance to progress. I found myself thinking on a few of the tradition questions that it's fine as an individual choice so long as it doesn't harm others or take away their choices or rights...it should be an individual choice. But I think the two can co-exist for the most part.

Reminds me of ideas from Confucius, Durkheim and others on the importance of ritual, as the everyday repeated actions that you always ordinarily do and help maintain the bonds and cohesion of society.

LeftValues pegged me as a democratic socialist, followed closely by eco-anarchist. This sounds about right; I am fairly libertarian in terms of my views on the abolition of hierarchy in theory (note the 95% decentralist lol), but support demsoc policies in practice. (Much like with many other quizzes, I think this one also does a bad job of separating what you ideally believe a perfect society should be, and what you pragmatically believe is achievable in terms of practical policy goals.) And yeah I think the climate crisis is one of the most important issues of our time.
