Our elder Jarl of Regional Affairs, @Doc, is planning on taking a well-deserved leave of absence from Wintreath (and the internet in general), and I'm looking for someone to fill his shoes temporarily until he returns. This is an opportunity to try your hand at being part of our senior leadership and driving the first part of Wintreath most people see, our NationStates page, without committing to a permanent position.

What does a Jarl of Regional Affairs do?

Primary Duties
The Jarl oversees the Ministry of Regional Affairs, which manages our NationStates region page and RMB to keep it current, vibrant, and active. This includes the World Factbook Edition (WFE), which gives basic introductory information about Wintreath; and the Regional Message Board (RMB) which is the home to an unique community of people that's mostly separate from the rest of Wintreath. As Acting Jarl, you may be involved in launching polls, keeping the page current, hosting and helping others host events on the RMB (as Doc has with Wacky RMB Rule Day), keeping in touch with the RMB community and consulting the rest of the Riksrad on issues that may affect them. The Jarl also supervises the Thane of World Assembly Affairs, who is otherwise known as our NationStates Delegate.

Additional Duties
As part of the Riksraad, the Jarl contributes to discussion in the body and takes a role in the day-to-day governance of Wintreath. The Jarl also serves on the Joint Moderation Group, which weighs in on OOC policies and situations, especially in areas that involve prominent members or situations where there is no former precedent.

What We Need
I'm looking for a Citizen who is patient, even-handed, can persevere in situations where others might lose their cool, and has enough interest in the NationStates side of things to be around our region page for at least a few hours a week. This is the only government ministry that oversees an entire platform of Wintreath, and it needs someone who can put time, effort, and TLC into it. You should also be 18 or over, which is required for all positions that weigh in on OOC matters. If you're familiar with NationStates regional administration tools, that's awesome but not required.

Finally, remember that this is a temporary, acting position that will end when Doc returns from his leave of absence. That may be something you like or don't like, but it's something to keep in mind when considering whether to volunteer for this position.
