A Word from the Monarch

Happy Pride Month!

One of the things that I'm most proud of with Wintreath is what a great LGBTQ+ community we have...over the years so many people have told me that Wintreath was a place where they discovered who they were or found support that they didn't necessarily have in their offline life. It's something that's made a real difference in people's lives, and that's why I'm so proud of what we have here. On a personal level I've always loved interacting with the awesome people that we have and to be able to say that I'm part of that community myself.

We've come a long way over the last few years in enhancing our LGBTQ+ community...both the forums and Discord have dedicated spaces to discuss issues related to the community, we've added preferred pronouns to the forums and pronoun roles to the Discord, and I still plan to add profile features for sexual preference and stories about how we came to decide we are what we are. But we can always do more, and now seems to be a good time to challenge our community to brainstorm how we can do just that. If you're part of the community, what would you like to see that would better let you express yourself? If you're not part of the community, what can we do to help you learn about the community and get to know it? Feel free to post your ideas and discussions right here in this topic, or reach out to me if you'd rather keep your ideas private.

Now is a good time to reflect on where we are and how we want to go forward in representing our LGBTQ+ community, and I hope you'll join me in doing that as we stay frosty, of course.

What’s Happening Now
Wintreath in Statistics Released

Overall, the latest edition of Wintreath in Statistics showed stable activity, although the impact of the waning pandemic was felt particularly on the NationStates regional message board, which returned to slightly above normal levels for 2019 and early 2020. Thanks to a few birthdays and the lapse of Citizenship for a few younger members, the average age of the community jumped by a year to 24.

Alder and Thane Elections End!

Elections ended with all candidates running winning their positions by default. This season will initially see a shortened Riksraad (Cabinet), with one Alder and a number of Thane positions going vacant. However, this season will see @Gerrick return the Cabinet, @Qymaen (also known as Potato Bagel) joining for his first time, and @Excalibur and @Ogun of Valeria retaining their positions as Thane of Roleplay and Thane of World Assembly affairs, respectfully. Congrats to all! I look forward to working with all of you!

This month I also purchased some tilesets and graphics from the Humble Bundle for use in future gaming and RP projects.
