FiveThirtyEight is better known for their political and polling analysis, but apparently at least one person there saw fit to apply their methods to Halloween candy, with spectacular results. I was pleased to see that their results were back up my opinions.

Those are my favorites.

So in conclusion, not only will Reese's Peanut Butter Cups (and other chocolate/peanut butter products) make you popular in your neighborhood, they'll make you popular with me. They're the next best thing to sex, and now I have something to back me up on that .

Overall, that list pretty much makes sense. I'm not surprised chocolate is at the top.

Grossly inaccurate relating to actual candy; this only works because it's being applied to quote-unquote 'fun size' candies, which nobody has ever found 'fun' except the manufacturers who exult in the phenomenal margins.
My hypothesis hinges on the weight of the individual fun-size component, and I bet if I cared enough to look at each one we'd find their location on the rankings tracked very closely with their relative weight.

Also, apparently unpopular opinion: Reese's is overrated. Wintermoot, you can have the Reese's I get from my candy packs.

Well I both stand and deviate from the majority not surprisingly since I like Reeses, Snickers, Twix, Buttefinger but never have seen the appeal of Kit Kat and Milky Way (probably because I don't like caramel and chocolate on its own isn't that appealing to me).

I am surprised Tootsie Rolls and gummies are so low on the list.

I'm not...everyone gives out Tootsie Rolls, gummies, and hard candy because they're cheap. In my experience, they're only eaten when there's nothing better around.

Yeah, I'm with Wintermoot on this one. Tootsie rolls are like some of the worst candy to get.

I definitely agree with you on hard candy but I will take your gummies and tootsie rolls, I like them more than Smarties or the heavy chocolate (not Reeses but like dark chocolate and regular Hershey's).  You all can have the regular Hershey's plus the Kit Kats, Milky Ways, Rolos, Lollipops, hard candy, Almond Joy and the like.
