Background Species Info: Longren
Standard Appearance: Lizard people that come in many hues, many of them resembling the colourings of earth snakes. Most commonly green, brown, or white with other accent colours.
Size: 6-7 feet
Lifespan: 70-84 years
Diet: Raw meat and other protein rich items. Plants are scarce in their diet. They are not averse to eating live insects.
System of Origin: Yve
Homeworld: Loxx
Climate: Very warm and humid, with daytime temperatures reaching 107F on average, and the high and low extremes at 134F and 60F respectivley.
Land: Rather flat, with many small lakes rather than large oceans. Sea level is very low, with the deepest measured body of water being just over a kilometer deep.
Cities: Most Longren live in city compounds centered around a body of water. Suburbs are almost unheard of, and farms are massive operations that take place between cities with most workers commuting outward. Loxx boasts three spaceports across the globe, one orbital station, and seventeen designated shuttle launch sites. The capitol city of Nori is located next to Lake Morae, one of the largest bodies of water on the globe.
Homes: Modern skyscrapers lead underground into habitat loops that circle between three buildings, with tunnels connecting them to other loops. Most Longren live in these Habitat loops, their homes more vegetation and dirt than furniture. What furniture they do have is usually carved out of their surroundings. They prefer sleeping in a hole in the ground rather than on what other species call a bed. Longren despise having other beings living in their quarters, and are almost obsessive about making sure no insects, arachnids, or other small animals are in their homes. Skylights that sit at ground level light their homes, though they do have lights capable of imitating the sun for use at night or during the darker portions of the year.
Aboard spaceships and in areas that cannot sustain such life, Longren homes are rather small and cavelike. Ceilings arch inward in random patterns, making no two places the same. Light is projected from the ground up, rather coming from the ceiling. There are usually two to three rooms, living space, a bathing space, and a children's space if applicable. A Longren sleeps in what is essentially a basket filled with sterilized and compacted dirt which they can place wherever they would like within their home/quarters. A desk is usually built into the wall, as is a personal replicator which is more used for uniform and material good needs than for food. Most ships will have eating areas with fresh meat within their biosphere.
Technology: Fairly standard and very similar to Federation technology. Being a bit more militaristic, their weaponry is more advanced, and their shields are designed to take their own firepower at 50% power. Military ships are capable of warp 8.9, while exploration class ships are only capable of 7.4, and transport, diplomatic, and scientific vessels are restricted to warp 5.
Known for: Repeatedly breaking the prime directive to absorb more species into their empire. (That's why the federation started demanding their people were placed on Longren ships in the first place, for they feared that cutting them loose from the federation would make things worse than if they tried to control the issue with their people) The colonization of the Klingoff-claimed world Ku-toc and subsequent 24 day standoff between fleets. Producing really good seafood. Having one of the lowest ship particle emissions ratings overall.
Values: Order and control first and foremost are the heart of their society, but under the tough exterior is a populous that cares about their planet and families more than other people.
Range: The conglomerate has taken over and colonized the three systems closest to their home system, and have a total of 37 outposts throughout the alpha quadrant. There are roughly four colonies that are not in Longren controlled space.
